playing on icecrown, if i donate for the exalted ring, do i get exalted status when i buy it? or do i still have to get the rep?

I'm pretty sure you have to grind the rep either way but I can't confirm.

You'd need to grind the rep.

In all honestly, I'd consider getting an item that isn't behind a simple rep grind.
