Ret/preg shield+1h

Hi! I'm looking for a good balance between:

Playing as Preg with my buddy (Warrior) as a supportive class

Playing BGs, world PvP, and duels

I'd like to swap between Ret and Preg specs while still using the same 1H + shield setup for both. The thing is, a lot of people say that Preg is only viable with a PvE 1H + shield, while for Ret, using something like double WF, a Scepter, or Bloodsurge with a WF shield gives better protection — mainly because of better procs and more survivability from the shield.

I'm trying to figure out how to balance this. Can I actually play Preg effectively with a PvE weapon and a WF shield? Or is that setup only good for Ret?

Duels are a huge part of the game for me, so I want to make sure I pick the best possible option for that too.
Right now, I’m honestly just super confused and not sure what to go with.

I think getting BiS 1h+shield for preg is the better choice because you'll always fight in that gear while as ret pala you are using a two hander for a big part of the fight.

yeah I think you're right. I can go for preg shield+1h and use it casually on ret and play arenas as a preg till I get to 1800 rating and buy for AP wrathful shield for ret

If you actually get into ret, you're going to be investing quite a bit in your assortment of weapons. If preg is your focus, I would recommend getting the items for that first. The ret weapons can come later.

thank you, I've bought ret after selling my rogue, it has already SM and bis eq, I was just missing shield+1h
