Are Hunters bad at duels or something?

Seems like I lose to everything as a hunter. Are they just bad at 1v1? I've heard some people say that in the right hands they are amazing, but what does that require? Like 10,000 hours and 10 different addons?

I can't kite melee for the life of me, they just charge over and over again, stuns everywhere. Once my trinket is gone, it's basically over. Deterrence is good but I am not fast enough to get away from them. Disengage doesn't give me enough room against say warriors when they can just charge right after that, completely cancels it out. Scatter trap takes too long for me.

All I can say is keep going at it. Watch other hunters (good ones) duel. Watch videos on youtube and also you need to learn about other classes and how to counter them when they do this or how to avoid that when they do that etc

Keybinding is key. Macros as well. Follow the guides on Warmane forums is a start, then slowly you will learn by yourself. Watching buffs and debuffs will help in the later stages. Learn your rotation well first. Duel and PvP a lot. Practice makes perfect

Back in te days when i was getting better at the hunter class, the key was to use your abilities preemtively.
Good example is to use detterence right before a warrior charges you, so you do not get the stun from the charge.
A paladin is running to you, you can expect a hammer 90% of the time, you can detter it.
The other example is to watch your mini map constantly, you have tracking for a reson.
Before you get jumped from a warrior you can feign death so he loses his target.
