Yamajin the NinjaLooter

My name is Yamajin, feral tank druid. Last night I was in ZA. I'm full BIS phase 4, my guild has Illidan on farm, so there was pretty much nothing I needed from that place. I went because it's summer, because the raid is scheduled before I go out with friends in real, and because I enjoy playing with my guildmates: tanking is also a responsibility.
We cleared the instance without a wipe, the bear mount dropped, and we downed "5-phase Zul'jin." All good. At the end of the instance, we rolled for loot. We were all from the same guild except for two PUG DPS, who were recruited because a couple of our friends were on vacation. One of them was an enhancement shaman who, completely unconcerned, rolled on almost every piece that nobody needed. The other was a hunter, and I frankly don't remember if he won any pieces.
We got to the Berserker's Call. The shaman rolled a "9," and after him, the hunter also rolled a "9." In Discord, they started arguing about a tie-breaker... a little distracted and almost for fun, I hit my /roll 100 macro... and popped a full "96"!
We do ZA twice a week, and I usually never roll on anything. The last time the Berserker's Call dropped, I "passed" to make room for the DPS in my guild. This time, however, they were PUGs, I had tanked the entire instance (and well), I had rolled the dice and won... with a 96 against two 9s. Maybe that trinket was really mine.
The shaman, who had bags full of drops, didn't say a word. The hunter went crazy. "It's not on your BIS list... blah blah blah!" In reality, the Berserker's Call is "Best Snap Threat" and replaces the Bloodlust Brooch (which I've had since phase 2!!). Still undecided, I was thinking about how useful it would be for trash mobs or for managing aggro on Illidan's flame adds with my fire set. Sometimes I need to hit hard more than survive so the DPS don't steal my aggro...
I didn't want any drama and, knowing myself, I was on the verge of suggesting a re-roll or passing it directly to one of the two DPS. In my guild, to make progress, we have a "tank first" policy. I'm geared up immediately, often without even knowing what I need. One of my friends does the calculations and makes the list of what I need, and the whole raid participates in gearing me up. In return, I must always be available, study the mechanics, understand the fights, and tank. My interest in the drops (which, with the different Fire/Frost/Nature sets, etc., are cluttering up my bank) is zero. "Junk that I need to do my job."
But right at that moment, when I was perhaps most inclined to give up the item, the hunter came out with: "I will report!" I was surprised, but something clicked in my mind. The problem wasn't whether I was eligible for that item or not. The problem was that he hadn't won it. And since he hadn't won it, no one else should have it. Report, revenge, payback.
It's probably because I'm addicted to 9gag, probably because I've been re-watching all the Dirty Harry movies with Clint Eastwood lately, probably because I have an ex-wife and I'm sick and tired of all this passive-aggressive behavior... But "Dirty Harry" rose up inside me: "Go ahead, report me, make my day!"
So here I am. I don't even remember that hunter's name but.. Pop my trinkets, pump Threat, Mangle! You want to report me? Do it! Yippee-ki-yay, hunta: say Hi to Hans Gruber when you join him in the parking lot!
My name is Yamajin, I’m a tank!

Technically that was a guild decision. You can make the argument that the roll was fair sure, but your attitude toward other players is sour. Thanks for linking your name and guild so we can avoid your group.

So you are the hunter who was mad af for not getting trinket?
I will /salute to this tank as soon as I see him!
Well done brother.

Hah! This is the kind of ZA story I like to read.
You show up, not even for loot, just because it’s summer, you’ve got time before heading out, and you’ve got the guild’s back. You tank clean, no wipes, keep the train rolling. Then RNG hands you a 96 against two nines. That’s not just a win — that’s a statement.
And then… the “I will report!” moment. That’s when you know it’s not about BiS lists, it’s about salty tears. The instant someone starts talking “report,” you can smell the passive-aggression from the other side of Azeroth.
So yeah — roll big, pop that trinket, and Mangle like you mean it. Let the DPS cry into their green tea while you keep the aggro locked down. Next time you’re on Illidan flame adds, give that Berserker’s Call a squeeze for all of us who’ve been there.
Carry on, Yamajin — we need more tanks like you. 🐻🔥
