Gearing through PVP

I have never pvp'd on wotlk before but I have done so some serious pvp in retail wow so im not a complete noob but how does one gear through pvp and not wanna blow their brains out? I have a warrior with 5.4 gs all pve gear and every battleground i do, i just get one shot on repeat by people with bis gear. Wintergrasp isnt any different unless I find someone not super geared then its a winnable fight. If i try to fight in the large mob, I just die to aoe. This grind is gonna make me quit pvp real quick.

Warrior is probably the worst class to play alone. What you will need is lots of patience. Stay always close to a healer.

Since you’re already 5.4k GS in PvE gear, I’ll assume you don’t really need Emblems of Triumph for PvE upgrades. That means you can start funneling them into the Furious PvP set as a baseline. This is what I usually do to make the grind feel less painful:

1. Daily and Weekly Honor Sources

• Random Battleground Win: Always pick up the daily random BG for the bonus honor.
• Wintergrasp Battles: Try to join every Wintergrasp. Winning can net you ~10k honor, while a loss is still ~1.5k.
• Wintergrasp Weekly Quests: Each one gives ~3.5k honor plus Stone Keeper’s Shards (which can be converted into honor).

2. Dungeon Farming for Extra Currency

• If you have a tank spec, take advantage of the instant queue pops for random dungeons. This lets you farm Emblems of Triumph for Furious gear while also picking up extra shards.
• When your faction controls Wintergrasp, dungeon bosses also drop ~4 Stone Keeper’s Shards. You can trade 30 shards for a consumable that grants 2k honor.

3. Additional Wintergrasp Rewards

• Every battle rewards Wintergrasp Marks of Honor, which can also be exchanged for honor or used toward gear.

By using emblems for the mainset and saving the honor for the offset, you can get fully PvP geared in less than a week (depending on what time you have available, can be faster or slower).

Another easy source of currency is Arenas. Just find a partner and play at least 10 games per week — you don’t even need to win. Simply participating nets you a minimum of ~250 Arena Points weekly, which you can then put toward the Relentless set (the upgraded version of Furious).

Using EoTs to buy furious gear is a really bad idea. You will want those to buy your T9...

With Wintergrasp Marks of Honor you can buy 251 shoulders which are very very good.

Yes! As i stated, only spend them if you don't need the emblems for PvE upgrades.

Warriors are very gear dependent and aren't very good until later on. Also the fact you're up front and everyone is targeting you while having no resilience.

At that stage I would definitely get a shield to swap on. Focus more on objective play. But if you are in confrontation between large groups only go up front with shield/def stance and when you have defensive cooldowns to absorb that damage which will help your team. Otherwise hang back behind the front line and attack anyone trying to push into your team. You will eventually get the gear and be able to hold your own better. Warriors don't do bursty damage so a healer keeping you up makes you a lot better because you can consistently beat down on many enemies for longer periods eventually overpowering them.

Play from Blackrock unless you plan on dropping a lot of money.
