how do i git gud?

New on Warmane, not much prior WoW experience, got 1 warrior lvl 60 pre TBC on blizz anniversary.
Got warrior lvl 36 on Icecrown, like it so far, what bothers me though is I'm not most effective player, sort of know META in theory, but I'm finding leveling, selling / buying items from AH, finding groups for quests / dungeons draining etc.
Might be not ideal time to join this particular realm because it seems and feels like everyone is way too far ahead in gear and experience, despite Icecrown being static/fixed version.
I might be wrong but even if I start grinding heavy from now on, nobody would want me in dungeon or raid group, whether it's regular or heroic dungeon or raid, or ICC.
I'm still not very familiar with server economy since it's been few days i joined, but it appears to be much more inflated compared to standard.
I made around 300 gold so far, mining + skinning, also i know i gotta bank around 1300-1400 gold for cold weather flying plus flying mount, need to look into it deeper.
If all goes well i would perhaps donate for 1-2 pieces of gear too
My final question would be, is it possible to be insanely geared just on pure grind and maybe 1 piece of gear eventually, in forseeable future;
Not to be BiS full tryhard setup but just enough to be accepted to raids and dungeons, mayve 4.5k or 5k gearscore? (i'm not familiar with the system yet so 4.5k gear might not be THAT special or might be huge)

Grind HC dungeons through RDF and buy gear with triumphs. Join TOGC raids and do your weekly. Don't forget VOA.

it would entirely depend on what your goal is by playing WoW in general.
do you just want to make friends, socialize, gank people, twinking, farming etc or just pure pve /raiding ?

if you're not that experienced with WoW in general. I'd suggest switching realms honestly. if you never played TBC or Wrath. you will more than likely enjoy Lordaeron or Onyxia more. much slower pace (still faster than classic) and much more people who are still leveling and do not care about gear at all.

Warmane's economy goes through phases of hyper inflation and deflation. Every year (typically around february) warmane does a gold squish. effectively halving everyone's gold by 50% across the board.

when it comes to gearing. essenially every 1k gearscore it gets exponentially harder to get another 1k. getting to 1k super easy. getting to 2k. still very easy, just takes a bit more time. from 2k to 3k ur starting to feel it. from 3k to 4k will be somewhat of a grind, nothing too bad yet. from 4k to 5k will start to get a little annoying mostly due to weekly raid lockouts. same with 5k to 6k but getting more niche because u need specific pieces.
if you find a half decent guild who does weekly raids. you won't have any issues gearing up. full BIS is about 6.4 - 6.7k depending on your class.
personally i wouldnt worry about it until ur lvl 80. you will have alot of things to do and alot of time to do it.

I think I'm very far from entering any of those any time soon though.
Gearing is going to take long time and a lot of luck to find a group since I doubt most people would even consider taking me in due to a lack of experience and GS.
Do you think I should join regular dungeons from now on just for XP grinding purposes, haven't done single one yet, or perhaps wait till I'm 80 and just run specific ones for particular gear pieces?

I would say mostly PvE/raiding, then a bit of PvP and say 5% of just looking cool ;D (probably more than that)
Not experienced in neither expansions but always wanted to feel it myself.
Changing realms is definitely an option but Icecrown has the most players and vast majority of them is geared to the teeth so rarely anyone ever bothers me in contested zones like in regular classic, everything is free real estate :D
I already watched many clips on how to gear up and enter warmane raiding scene, have a rough idea, but in practice it will defo be a steep climb

The biggest difference in realms will be mostly how fast you will get to 80. And more people doesnt always mean more engagement. Personally im currently leveling a fresh character on lordaeron and im not noticing much difference in the open world. If its purely for pve and raiding purpouses, you can stick to icecrown. The overral community from personal experience there is that alot of people function within the "the expansion is over 10 years old. You should know this" sometimes forgetting new players exist. If you let them know they can become the friendliest people tho, dont let the toxicity of certain people hold you back from socializing. Good luck on your journey.
