Arguably, it is a viable way to life your life, Abracadavra. However, being quite pessimistic is limiting a lot of one's potential while providing ~protection~ via the ~better safe than sorry~ mentality. As much as possible, I try not to fall into any extremes, as they can both halt my potential. Faber est suae quisque fortunae.
Abra isn't so much pessimistic as he is a realist.

Oh it actually quite the opposite, by looking at the world that way, you realize that it's actually full of pleasant surprises and very nice people.

Quot homines tot sententiae. My opinion is that by being a pessimist or a realist, you have a greater appreciation towards the good things in life, because you don't take them for granted.

But there are so many sides of the same coin and so many variables ~potentially infinite~, that this very subject is relative. The pessimist can range from the depressive, miserable individual to the logical-realist man. An optimist can be anything from the naive fool to the man who lives his life at the fullest, to the opportunist.

The most important thing is to be happy, love and not worry about the day after today or tomorrow :).
