Demonology is less broken but they both remain viable and equal. Just depends on the player. I find demo better though thats because my sockets and professions (enchanting/tailoring) emphasize high spell power and not haste (though I have 1530 with improved spell stone). My fastest corruptions were only 7-8 seconds as a result.

I like to play affliction as an offspec should there be no demo locks, but it would be EXTREMELY selfish to play affliction if you're the only lock when demo does as much dps and can provide the raid with an exceptional spellpower buff.

PS you can't test demo dps on dummy...unless you have a way of making an execution phase

Whenever you need to change gear (upgrade/downgrade) you just have to use the exact same rotation on a Training Dummy. The execution phase doesnt play a role in gear testing. Results will vary anyway.

PS. The more important thing you should be doing is doing multiple tests. Like 5 for each gear setup. Plus write down your rotation to use it on both setups equally. I would ignore the Molten Core procs upon testing and just spam SB some more, less proc dependant.

That pvp items i mentioned doin way higher damage then that pve 219lvl items...I guess difference is just too big :D

What is the time limit when you guys do a dps check on a HC Dummy?

Is it too long if the limit is 5 mins. ?

Due to affliction and demonology execution phases you can't test your dps on dummies but you can use it to compare gear upgrades. 5 minutes is a good amount of time I'd say.

At low gear lvls<4.8K
you will run oom or out of healt if life tapping b4 5 minutes is up


As demo, i tend to measure for at least 2 minutes(meta off cd again), and hold out as long as i can.

I dunno about low gear levels but...

You will only run out of mana. Even if you rape your life tap button, "fizzled" will humbly flash in the top-center of player UI.

You measure at least 2 minutes? So what is your max limit?

Nice guide, and I must say I'm performing better in demo than aff atm with 5.6k gs gear. (3 pieces of tier 10)
Did 9k+ dps in Voa 25 last time ;). And yes still no glove drop :s

Bumping because there are other people bumping the other guide (which I think OP already said was inactive) searching for the proper talent builds. Non-pushback fights could move the two points out of Intensity and place them elsewhere (not recommended, though, as there's always some sort of pushback in most ICC fights).

HI can someone please add in what the hit/haste cap is. Hopefully whoever made the guide will b.c besides missing this it is a great guide.

spell hit cap : -17%(horde & alliance | no draenei , no boomkin or spriest in raid )
-16%(alliance with a draenei in raid and no boomkin or spriest in raid )
-14%(horde with a boomkin or spriest in raid )
-13%(alliance with a draenei in raid with boomkin or spriest in raid )

all above considering you have 0/3 in Supression Talent(Affliction Tree tier 1) :D


about haste : soft cap is when your soulfire cast time during Decimation is 1.000 seconds . I dunno the exact number but around 1420 if i am not wrong.
