Having blackrock tbc, and onyxia linked for bg's and arenas is going to be a disaster for onyxia, What are they thinking?
A lot of the arguments in here are mind blowing lol. This change is going to make the pvp scene much more active. I myself am from NA and I have a ton of friends that will be playing this realm now that there's an instant 70 server. Administration has mentioned multiple times in this thread that they will be monitoring the realms to ensure it is a fair playing field. From what I've personally gathered a lot of the onyxia people don't want any real competition in the competitive mode of WoW.
Give this a chance- dont think i will
"I know people think of Blackrock as "unfair advantage" automatically, but the aim is for the progression in this to be at around the same pace as Onyxia players."
"progression in this to be at around the same pace"
not the same but AROUND the same? broken!
you are telling me that i have to "play wow" on onyxia.. spend time leveling grinding reps attuments gold leveling professions, finding a raid spot, put time and effort into grinding heriocs and raids for gear that hopefully drops and I win...
and still be behind blackrock players for gear progression as they just buy from vendors for honor and ap?
why do you guys want me to grind rep for how long to get say a JC only gem/cut to give myself an advantage when black rock players dont have to do the same?
what about say blacksmithing? what about the crafted blacksmith weapons?
Stormherald? black rock players can get something like that from a vendor.. while onxyia players have to do the same+ raid for the same item? crazy...
i like the idea of a TBC arena realm but your timing of it is wrong..even more so when you guys trying to push onxyia TBC.. why separate the two..
should have added something like rated bgs to onxyia so players can pre made "team up" and fights others in bgs..
update the 60 gear.. or maybe buff hwl gear some to match naxx gear?
stopping the cheating that is very wide spread here and will only get worse come arena...
cant tell you how many times i get whispered right in game in bgs by peoples alts/friends giving me wrong info..trolling cheating in a dam bg.. wtf.
at this point i would say remove any and all rating requirements from gear and let people have access to what they want in tbc.
if a player wants to say go 0-10 every week capping 2's "or 5's if they are smart" and it takes them 3 months to buy a 2handed pvp weapon so be it..
you guys should have spent time on improving things in game for players like i said.. things like rated bgs..
i cant think of a server be that classic or tbc that has rbgs.. good selling point yeah? only sever with them...
when did blackrock TBC server become a thing? first i seen/heard of it was reading this thread... did you inform the players this was going top happen months ago or just now?
pvp season will be how long?
You keep commenting about how you will be behind Blackrock progression, but we fully intend for it to be the opposite.
Rated BGs is something we'd like to do, for the greater server as a whole as well, but we're not to that yet.
We won't be making custom changes to itemization for things like HWL gear.
To my knowledge, there already isn't any rating requirement on TBC pvp items in general.
But isn't this situation allowing unbalanced pvp experience?
On Onyxia, If I want an item from a raid I must level from 60 to 70, gear for that raid, hope the item drops, roll for it, and hopefully win it.
Let's say it takes me 30 hours of playtime for the sake of simplicity.
On Blackrock, I can create a character and start doing bg and arena from the get go. Again, for the sake of simplicity, let's say it takes me the same 30 hours of playtime for the same item.
While the amount of time spent will be the same, and at the surface level there might be no clear advantage in playing on blackrock, there is a crucial point I think should be considered. On Onyxia, I must do pve to get good pvp items. On blackrock, I can spend the same amount of time doing pvp and getting better at it, while in the end obtaining the same gear.
TL,DR: I believe that Blackrock players will have a significant edge in pvp compared to Onyxia players, because they just need to do bgs and arenas to obtain all the gear they wanted. Thus, they will have more time to practice and get better compared to those who need to do pve content.
Butkus slowly becoming a Blackrock PvP player based on the points he's making.
How many times do people need to lay out the gear acquisition system until you understand that Blackrock players aren't getting gear faster than you?
I'd have expected a post saying this to end right there.

Ofc if you have 30+ hrs of experience in a game mode you'll be better, so yes on average the pvp player on blackrock will be better than the average pvp player on Onyxia. So yes, the advantage gained in this case can be considered 'unfair' due to the different ways item are obtained.
Sounds like a strawman to me, but I know nothing about running WoW servers so I really hope this merge is the right solution for both realms.
Good luck!
I'm so glad I was able to put in 30 more hours of WSG than everyone else back in TBC Classic, that's what got me my multiple Rank 1's
This game is 20 years old. Anyone who's coming to Onyxia and wanting to be competitive in Burning Crusade PvP while having 0 hours of experience has vastly bigger problems than this made up scenario where "Blackrock is better because they only play PvP" and "30 hours" decides who wins.
Why are you still talking about things you have no idea about yet? There are so many details to this which havent been shared, but here you are with your crystal ball, telling us its gonna be fine.
We all understood what you want and that youll annoy us till you get what you want, but can you slow down now that they said theyll do this cross realm things?
Repeating the same assumptions over and over again wont make it more true.
The point was not the number of hours but ofc people is going to underlie useless details to try strengthening their points in a discussion.
And denying that practice makes perfect is delusional at best so yes, players who just do arena will be on average better than people who don't.
In 6-12 months we will see on which server the best arean teams are playing, hope I am wrong though.
Peace.
