How can I play PoE without getting bored?
I made it to like level 30 once and every zone seems the same. Maybe it's fun with friends but playing it by yourself is so ****ing boring. I had a lot of fun up until level 25 and that was pretty much it.
Well, when I started playing PoE in closed beta I actually quit after a while. It gets boring by yourself, you are completely right about that. Best way to start out is by grabbing a friend to level with, preferably someone who played already so he/she can direct you a little. The game gets really interesting when you start farming end game maps with a few friends. You basicly need to reach lvl 60 and all your friends who are higher level can play with you without too much trouble. Leveling is quite fast even, you can hit 55-60 in a day as a casual player as long as you know a few tips and stuff. I'm usually afking a ton, so it takes me a bit longer QQ. But my solution was to get as many of my friends to try PoE as I possibly can, a lot of them got hooked and now my guild is quite large (well, 10 people). Most of them quit during leveling but got talked back into playing and enjoyed end game so much that they constantly come back to playing the game now.
So yea, try to ask a friend to level with you and try to reach end game, thats when you will get hooked.
Implying that the amount of buttons you gotta press is in any shape or form related to how much fun a game is, excluding that your description of the game is inaccurate to begin with. Which at the same time is actually hilarious if you consider how many buttons you pressed in Diablo 2. But hey, enjoy you talent tree in D3. LOL, get it? Talent tree. Damn, that was a good one, gotta say so myself.
Nice catch Mr. Ricks. Too bad I haven't updated PoE yet, will do next week though. Excited about seeing Act IV and starting out in new league. Heard Act IV is way more challenging than the other ones, and they made previous acts shorter, less floors in certain chambers/dungeons/areas
Yeah it's more fun with more people, not only you have people to discuss / talk with but also games more challenging too, monsters are tougher, there's more loot XP and what not.
I think you'd enjoy end game maps too as Ricks said, it gets way more fun later on, normal/cruel/merciless difficulties are only preparation for the big stuff that comes later
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying?!? Are you implying that there's something fun about repetitive combat? And are you actually praising PoE's talent tree? Where are the talents in that tree? All I see are a bunch of passive effects. I'm real excited every time I level.
Also, why did you automatically assume that I was talking about Diablo when I said "decent ARPG"?
There are different opinions about the game, and then there are facts. My opinion is that Path of Exile is an extremely overrated pile of crap and the fact is that the game is more rewarding the less abilities you use.
What can I say? I rage out a lot.
The guys over at /r/MechanicalKeyboards told me to invest in some anger management after my little story about past Keyboard abuse.
I promise to never hurt my future keyboard, as long as it's a mechanical one. I mean I was really nice and treated myself to a $100 keyboard thinking I had my **** under control finally, but nope.
I mean I could easily replace the keys on this but no-one is selling individual keys, I need two, Enter and my =+ key. I keep this thing clean, I look after it with care when Im not angry.
I'll give it another try some time.
Warbands is kinda cool, some of those are actually quite difficult and I have yet to encounter a leader, but I'm only 50. The new act is indeed more challenging and I really enjoy the flare it has. Especially the end boss is quite impressive. And that they cleaned up the game from long and boring areas really makes the leveling experience a lot smoother and fun, imo.
Killing Atziri/uber Atziri for the first time is actually one of the most rewarding feelings.Quote:

The 2 button comment pretty much implied that you were saying that, yep. And the skill tree provides passives that can heavily impact how your character is played. You don't need to provide active abilities when the games concept is based on acquiring those skills by putting them into your gear. And I can't even see where you get the comment from that less ability use = more reward. Typical setup would be a movement skill, single and aoe, plus a curse. Some may even use enduring cry or blood rage to sustain certain charges, but lets exclude that. Sure if you wanna play some 2 button hero, you have the option to do so. One of my chars has so many auras that I only have 1 active skill and I need to switch my aoe for my single target when I go for boss fights. But it was my choice to build it that way and I'm actually getting punished with slower clear speeds due to lack of mobility skills.
The diablo 3 comment purely came from the fact that I don't recall a single ARPG that's played online which required me to use more then 2-3 buttons. The only one I recall is D3. Be it torchlight 1/2, sacred 1/2, diablo 1/2 or PoE.
Legend of Korra is 10/10 so far.
I'm almost done with season two. The one thing I love about Legend of Korra over Last Air Bender is that it's a little more serious. I absolutely loved The Last Air Bender but so far I'm enjoying this more.
Well if you like how serious it is, you're really going to like the last season and a half. Nick stopped airing it on tv then and went web-only and the show quality was much higher, surprisingly.
I miss the good old days when the rogue forums were active and full of drama.
