No, he was in the olympics. On the left is not him
Acceptance can be the wall that protects people from harassment. Yeah, back in the olden times, people were killed for being gay which, in my opinion, is ****ing disgusting.
But on the topic of transgender. People that are transgender face a lot of harassment. Regardless if it is a mental disorder or not, we have to accept that they're people like the rest of us. And this is something a lot of people can not do when it comes to people who are transgender.
"According to surveys, 4.6 percent of the overall U.S. population has self-reported a suicide attempt, with that number climbing to between 10 and 20 percent for lesbian, gay or bisexual respondents. By comparison, 41 percent of trans or gender non-conforming people surveyed have attempted suicide.
The most recent, comprehensive data on suicide attempts was gathered by The Williams Institute, in collaboration with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Its report, Suicide Attempts Among Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Adults, analyzed responses from 6,456 self-identified transgender and gender non-conforming adults (18+) who took part in the U.S. National Transgender Discrimination Survey. The results are staggering." http://www.vocativ.com/culture/lgbt/...ender-suicide/
No one is forcing you to call Caitlyn Jenner a beautiful person. No one is forcing you to call her a hero. But what she did was show the world that she isn't going to hide who she is. People that are transgender should be able to wake up in the morning without having to worry about how many *******s they're going to encounter. And do I view Caitlyn Jenner as a hero? Not necessarily but I do admire what she has done.
People that are transgender deserve to live a life without harassment that pushes them towards suicide.
I deserve to live a life without the harassment of being forced or expected to play along with "identifications."
new monitor shipped today, hopefully i'll get it before the end of the week.
Hopefully TSM will win tomorrow, would be pretty sweet.
Which is why I said they need help, not encouragement.
Think about it. It's a mental disorder to my knowledge. As far as I know it can be "fixed".
Here's another interesting article:
"Dr. McHugh, the author of six books and at least 125 peer-reviewed medical articles, made his remarks in a recent commentary in the Wall Street Journal, where he explained that transgender surgery is not the solution for people who suffer a “disorder of ‘assumption’” – the notion that their maleness or femaleness is different than what nature assigned to them biologically.
He also reported on a new study showing that the suicide rate among transgendered people who had reassignment surgery is 20 times higher than the suicide rate among non-transgender people. Dr. McHugh further noted studies from Vanderbilt University and London’s Portman Clinic of children who had expressed transgender feelings but for whom, over time, 70%-80% “spontaneously lost those feelings.”
While the Obama administration, Hollywood, and major media such as Time magazine promote transgenderism as normal, said Dr. McHugh, these “policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.”" http://cnsnews.com/news/article/mich...der-sex-change
Imagine if you, instead of giving an amputee a prosthetic, you just praised his beauty and courage.... This is why I don't like it. We're only making it worse by not helping them.
"This assumption, that one’s gender is only in the mind regardless of anatomical reality, has led some transgendered people to push for social acceptance and affirmation of their own subjective “personal truth,” said Dr. McHugh. As a result, some states – California, New Jersey, and Massachusetts – have passed laws barring psychiatrists, “even with parental permission, from striving to restore natural gender feelings to a transgender minor,” he said."
This is just infuriating. Even more so if you read the comments below the article. Everyone ****ting their own uneducated opinion while this guy with quite a number of accomplishments in psychiatry and medicine is just denied any facts.
Hilarious arguments. People have cut off their dick out of pure stupidity multiple times in the past and are less looked down upon then someone who does it to feel better. For me it's the same deal as someone being gay, I got absolutely no issue with it unless they try to force me to involve me in it. If I would love to drink cat piss 6am every day, then **** me that my buisness and shouldn't concern anyone but myself. But this behavior to care so strongly about others, purely to seem like a good person who fights for the "right" thing is the exact reason why facebook is the cancer of the internet.
TL;DR: Do what you want, just don't involve me in it
Time to switch to a less serious topic, the stealth mechanics on Lord are actually ****ing working. Like seriously, holy **** after 5 years stealth actually works for the first time, gotta love it. Seems like being human is finally worth something (jk, 2nd trinket OP anyway), but the 2 stealth detection points are more then just RNG now. I'm not high enough yet, but if vanish is working properly also.... damnnn
Court judges all the time make decisions using "rules" that don't actually exist, simply going by similarity with other cases that can be seen as having a relation, until an actual official law about it is made. It would be a pretty bad legal system if a new situation arose and the fact there was no applicable law could mean no punishment in each and every case. Not to mention judges reach different results, directly contradicting others, also all the time.
On top of all that, the judge can rule that he is "legally a woman," but all that means is that as far as applicable law goes, he has to be treated as a woman, going into such things as making other women uncomfortable because they're forced to share a bathroom with a man. The judge can't force you to see him as a woman or act like he's a woman any more than he call order you to not call any woman a "dude." And if law is absolute for you, I want to see you balance all the divergent and contradictory laws different US states have.
Bottom line is that thought-controlling laws will never work, and will just make the situation worse, because people who are forced into something ridiculous like this will just resent not only the law, but the people who are affected by that law as a whole. You can't outlaw people from being prejudiced, only from acting on it.
It's also so deliciously ironic that you call him "it" on your final words.
That I see as going a bit too far. I guess we reach ends with similarities, but we go through very different paths to get there. I sincerely don't mind "deviations" like transgenders. If someone feels like a woman, go ahead. Hell, if lots of people felt like rocks and would stay still and quiet for the rest of their lives this world would be so much better.
I'm all for people to have the right to be what they are, even if that means them being bigots or *******s, as long as it doesn't means violence or direct harm to others. You're a religious extremist who doesn't wants to bake a cake for a gay couple? Fine with me. It's your business, you should be allowed to decide who you want to work for. Let people show they don't respect you and your choice by avoiding your business, not by having it go on news and lawsuits. If that many people disagree with you, you'll go out of business. If you don't... well, there are a lot of people who don't give a **** about all the bull****, or who agree with you. Will getting sued make you change your mind? Not at all, you'll just resent homosexuals even more, and the only lesson you'll learn is to not be open about your bigotry - next time you'll just make up an excuse or bake them an awful cake. Does that makes it better for anyone?
Whether "not identifying with your real gender" is a mental disease or not is irrelevant to me. There are quite a few mental disorders that people are able to live with without any sort of treatment anyways. Some people don't want "help," they just want to be themselves, the way they are. So, if someone wants to be a transgender, go for it. The only thing I don't and won't accept is being forced myself to treat them as what they wish they were. I reserve myself the right to stick to the actual reality instead of joining in a mass fantasy.
As goes a pearl of wisdom a friend shared with me once, "there are no chicks with dicks, only dudes with tits."
