Why is that?

On topic like other said it depends on premades (find yourself a good guild).
I noticed that alliance tends to loose more BGs since 4.3 came out.

if you pvp go horde, it will save you from spending to transfer them later

The way I think if someone is having doubts about joining Horde or Alliance, then he should definitely choose Alliance. You should never have doubts when joining Horde. And as for the Alliance, the more there are Horde can kill :P

Or you could think the other way. The better the opposite faction is, the more challenging and fun your experience will be. Unless maybe you are unother player that prefers having it easy. :)
