Excluding countries like Venezuela (and some Asian countries) where possessing dollars (or any other foreign currency for that matter) is illegal. Most south-american countries have a very high level of inflation, they can pay for retail WoW, but it's so expensive that it's really not worthy.Quote:

Edit: We're also talking about the vast majority. WoW is so known world wide I believe every country has the opportunity to play it.
I'm pretty sure the 'excessive' amount of south-american guilds in all the realms (and the somewhat stable activity of the Spanish localized forum - where most posts are made by S. Americans -) is enough proof of the population. I'm not saying they represent 25% of the server population but you can bet it's above the 0.x%.
Knowing about WoW doesn't mean they have ever played retail.
Most people play on a private server for one or both of these reasons:
1.) They don't want/do not have the money to spent on retail.
2.) They want to play a older expansion (Retail doesn't support Classic, burninc crusade, wotlk, cate or MoP).
So no I strongly disagree with the statement that most people play to gear up easy. If you want easy gear either pay the prise or EARN IT.

I think we should ask the question: how many donated on ArenaTournament realm? This question alone overlapses the argument where they don't want to pay money to play the game, also, it's a one time payment, not once every month / every third month.
