I think the staff is being too narrow just thinking on items. Bonus services should be offered. lordaeron has people that are less likely to donate for crude advantages (gear) but more likely to donate for things that would make the most tedious experiences a bit less tedious, or also "Utility". For example
- Bonus to profession skill ups (Pay to have 50 skill points added to one of your proffesions)
- Reputation bonus (Pay to increase your reputation with a faction by 1000)
- Reduced Hearthstone cooldown
- Many Others, not my job to figure out how the staff has to fix their server
I had already predicted this thing will show up regarding lack of funding.
Reason being imo is, its alright that they made custom changes to raids and the scripts to make things hardcore. There are hardcore raiders as well on realm who are doing their job nicely. But a realm doesn't really depends upon those hardcore raiders but donors more. One simple straight line "you are playing because others are donating"
Hardcore raider part :-
I am a hardcore raider, why would i donate for the gear which i can achieve with my hardwork and raiding skills ?
I play 12 hours a day enough to farm up anything on realm,then whats use of wasting real cash and ruining my own fun ?
Donor part :-
I am just a raider, i raid casually with my guild and other friends. We do the raid and have our nice time. We are moving to new raid sooner on realm so lets see what is there on Store.
(Browses through gear on store)
umm, it would be much easier if i get that item to increase my tanking, healing or DPS.

Keep in mind, almost 80% donors are soft stressed lads.
Farms heroics for a few stuffs, gets BiS goes into raid. Wipes on naxx raid due to buffed damage. OMG what is this ?
and then he decides to play just for fun and not donate for further gears.
A donor just buys the time with cash which he would had waste to level up, levelling prof, farming bgs or raids. But if a donor is not satisfied with the quality of content provided he wont donate, this is the simple basic theoram.
There were others as well who pointed that raid should be hardcore, but not such hard enough to corner the donors on realm.
Obviously someone will encounter me telling 10k population of realm, may be realm wont lose population but it will lack funds forever if the same scenario keeps going on.
or someone will come and counter me saying its hardcore realm only, for those i will repeat my words "a realm doesn't depends upon number of hardcore players but number of donors more to keep the expenses flowing"
if you still cant assess the issues, you can keep it going the same for few months more and may be then you will realize the donor part of the show.
no hard feelings, i just posted what i hear from people in-game. but none of them is worried to post on forums as everytime someone comes up and says something, he gets cornered on forums.
its your realm, you better should assess what you should attend to and what steps should be done to make it upstanding one for a long time.
Character Recustomization was added to Lordaeron for 10 coins.
It appears to include name change, although I just used it to change my character's skin color. Not sure if it was added by mistake or not.

You could give some really nice prices but noone would be able to just buy their BiS-gear because they never know if and what they are going to win.
Make some lotterie-only awards available. Say special mounts that are not obtainable in-game. There a some never used mounts, TGC-, Blizzcon-, Recout-a-friend-rewards and i bet there's more stuff like this other than mounts.
