For your information, you missed the sarcasm as it flew over your head. Thought I aimed low enough, guess not.

If this was retail yes. Not to insult the entire community but anyone with half a brain knows that 90% has no clue how to play their class or how to avoid or move from things that can kill you. They try to use gearscore as a means to out gear something which does not mean that 6k warrior with smourne knows his or her rotation or how to avoid said damage.
In another note, who cares at this point with no end game bosses working and the server being such a huge and utter mess with scripting issues. It's literally a crap shoot each week.
Lastly, there are hundreds of threads about this already and since over half the community does not use the forums it's a wasted topic that's been revisited over and over again to no avail.
I'm fairly new to this server but I guess you're right. I remember when wotlk was the current xpac for retail, people would let you in to do voa as soon as you hit 80 and anyone asking for a GS was mocked because it was the easiest raid. But the ToC dung I just did where no one in my party could even turn away from the radiance during eadric shows that you're right. It sucks for people like me though, I snuck into a voa group at 3.2k GS and had no problems, now I've got my achieve, I'm still not let in at 4.2k GS. It's frustrating as hell
hello don quixote
5k gs raid group wiping at icc rep farm is just a molten thing.

yes when this was current if you mentioned gearscore as a requirement on a server you would be trolled off the server. at least the two servers i played on. yes they would take fresh 80's into voa back then and if someone wanted proof that you knew what you where doing you would log a main pm the RL and give him your achievements from your main. Here i dont even know how to explain it and no matter what gets said about it no one ever changes anything about it. i have maybe seen 2-3 raids since core update in global that are not asking for GS and who require achievements or a gear check.
how many GS required raids actually get past the first 4-6 bosses? not many. i promise if people actually put in the time and effort to build a good pug run it would produce far better results. I dont know if its the younger players who come from retail and LFR who are used to having raids set up quickly or if its just pure laziness by the people setting up runs. Either way all these threads in the end mean nothing as ive said before this topic has been debated every 3-4 months on these very forums for years and nothing has changed.
Setting up a proper raid however would require (significant amounts of) knowledge, knowledge that most if not all of the pug raid leaders lack. Like, they`d literally not be able to tell whether someones correctly geared, gemmed and stuff, thus, solely relying on easier and more obvious metrics like itemlevel (which again gets inflated because of suc)
Here's a crazy idea - why not make your own raid with requirements set however you see fit?
If you're too lazy, don't blame other people for taking advantage of that.
Don't cry that others aren't making raids that are tailor made to suit your character.
Well get a 3.5k tanks and healers.
TAnk wont have >30k hp, heals wont have >20k mana nor not enough regen to cover for that.
Each voa I heal ends up with me and one more well geared guy healing it all and 3 other healers just spamming som heals.. Even well geared spriests used to beat them when we had working orbs.
My bad, real numbers are (concerning me) 5.5k gs and 9.5k+ dps (no set items btw)
I organise my own raids btw, so no rage pls. Replies like "do your own raid""stop *****ing" and stuff, are as useless as ppl describe before.
What I find to be a pita is when people require a gs, and don't even have that gs themselves/have leather gear on as a ret paladin, or are even missing gear in some slots.
When people require a GS of having the BiS gear pre-that dungeon/raid. We're not tanking looking for raids on Lordareon, we don't need to have so much gear so we don't get oneshot.
Ah or when (Had this happen to a friend and I yesterday) you whisper a guy who's looking for a healer and dps and they try to kick your friend you told them to invite to Heroic FoS because he's only 4k gs. Well sorry buddy but you can *Insert vulgar insult here*, I joined your group to help my friend, not to abandon him.
The only ways I think GS requirements are needed are when people enter FoS, PoS, etc... Really any dungeon/raid when they try this crap. With stuff like level 30 weapons on, no trinkets at all, or rings, wearing leather armor and dealing about 300dps. Really had a guy in an ICC rep farm who was dealing 300dps as a warrior. At that point it's okay to kick them because if they aren't even trying they can leech off someone else so we can clear faster and not get held back.
The only thing people should require is for tanks to be able to tank without dying, and be defense capped so they don't get crit.
For healers just not to be braindead and to have enough sustain/mana to heal through each fight.
For dps to not die in a single AoE from an enemy, to be able to deal a decent damage amount, and to be able to use their CDs correctly. After playing a hunter for 2 days now I just realized that most hunter I've ever healed/tanked for is a complete moron because none of them use MD. (To the few hunters who have in my groups, or the guys who I used to raid with on Lorda please ignore this, and bless you.)
I'm just tired as hell of every time I go to heal for let's say FoS or PoS H or even freaking normal (I'm 4900gs now or something holy paladin, not online atm in que so can't check) and I tell someone to invite me I'm a healer then they ask me my GS... And if it's for Normal more than half the time the whole party is filled with people who are missing gear in multiple slots.
Sorry for the rant just annoyed at that stuff.
Orendil hit it on the nose. The only reason people have a gearscore requirement, and THE ONLY REASON is so the person leading the raid can get carried. Why do you think they set it so high? They need someone to cover their slack, or the friends that they are carrying. There are people who sit in chat and spam "LFM FOR H RDF 5K+ GS PST" like what the hell? Why would you need to be ICC geared to run a dungeon that gives ilvl 200 gear? Its cuz dude wants to get carried. Same applies for raids. Gearscore =/= skill. When i hit fresh 80 in blues and greens as a ret pally I was told my gs was 2.9k, but I was out dpsing people who had 4-4.5k gs. Now imagine if I had their score and what i'd be doing? But I guess I understand, we are playing on a pay to win server, so when everybody is running around with full 264 gear they just paid real world money for after they insta level 80'd, its obvious they dont know their class.
The GS addon is fine , it's certain players that make the game difficult for everyone else to enjoy :)
