That's not necessarily true. Nevermind that it is significantly more difficult to get MoP or Cata to that level of quality than it is WotLK simply due to the sheer amount of content.

Before molt-down, Cata had more population than Wotlk.

After molt-down, MoP had more population than Wotlk (Sarg+FW together).

Fairly certain its true that MoP and Cata only have low numbers because they've been given almost no attention.

I played on MoP since the start of Stormstout PTR and i remember well that at the main realm opening there were 2k people at queue and it kept being like that for like 1 month until you opened another realm, yet both of them were full and had 1k in queue. even after 2 moltdowns it was still like that. Do you know where that population is? ofc on other mop servers, and some of them went back to wotlk until mop be fixed enough. so that is entirely true.

I can understand that MoP and Cataclysm are harder to script than WotLK, but it is clear that there are less developers working on mop than wotlk. also Cata is easier than mop to get fixed and there was a cata realm here for a long time, why didn't you fix that one?

Cataclysm's problem is not delayed development my Warmane devs, to be honest Cataclysm expansion is ultra s***, people are not intersted in such expansion so why devs should focus on Cataclysm?
Moving backward by implementing one of the most played expansions to community? No, I don't think so, its great step forward.

TBC will likely be around the same pop as Lordaeron, wich is huge, this at the same time will bring more pople to the WotLK realms, as well as a little amount of people to the Cata/MoP, this is overall good for the bussiness, one way or another, so its a step forward.

...As for the two servers that dont even hit 1k pop put together... Thats why I keep saying Cata and MoP need to be merged into a single WoD server along with both dev teams, so little people play there, its hard to justify the manpower/server costs; Ideally it would become a Legion server, but that would cause legal problems since that Xpac is on live currently; however it could be planned ahead, and go for WoD and upgrade it to Legion after another xpac hits live (Just trowing out ideas here)

TBC might bring some people to mop and cata but TBC will need devs working on it so less devs working on mop, and even those who will join mop will leave again lol. Not talking about cata cause i doubt people will even join it with that population it has now.

And one question, do you even play on mop? If not please don't make suggestions for it because you don't play at it. Also, me (and i guess most of mop and cata players) don't like wod at all...

They can't find developers to fix Mop and Cata and you want to make it worse by upgrading them both into the most hated expansion ever????? What makes you think they can do better on a expansion barely anyone worked on?Maybe you shouldn't join this discussion.

Cata had more population than wotlk simply because it was the same expansion of retail at that era, so it's normal every was "hyped" for trying it out having no/low clues about it. Same goes to MoP, more or less, and due to dw and raggy being "too old".
Some players may say that devs ain't working on cata/mop as much time as in wotlk so population is decreasing day by day, but that is nothing else than a personal assumption. So I'll give mine, if devs were working at the same level, wotlk servers would still have more population. Yes. my assumption. But at least we have two facts right here, first, as it was said before, cata/mop are much harder on scripts, and second, the first 3 expansions, vanilla, tbc and wotlk were the most loved ones.

Afaik the dev teams are separated into each expac and work only on that one due to core differences and whatnot (perhaps someone with more knowledge of how the inner of the dev team works could shed some light into it).

I do in fact play MoP, and used to play Cata back in molten, and now I see how both xpacs have so little pop.

The cant fix Cata and MoP at the rate we all desire because there is no economic justification (Income) to put more hours and people into it, thats why development has been so slow; As for "The most hated expansion" dont go there, the most hated expansion has been each and everyone of them after WOTLK, not a valid argument in any conversation; They can do better because the WOTLK realms are an example of how polished the game can be on the hands of Warmane, but its obvious cata and mop just dont have the people to justify faster development.

It's very simple. No updates = populations declines = less income = no reason to give updates. And yes, WoD is universally hated amongst most players. WotLK and older expansions are easyer to make because its so old most of the data is open source.

... I always assumed TBC and WOTLK were accepted and loved, bias opinion tho, since I started WoW at the end of TBC and start of WOTLK (Retail)... You learn something new everyday...
