The BG´s are not that big of an issue, as there is many people in one and cross faction is gonna lower queue times. But 2s and 3s, SoloQ, its a mess if any gladiators can queue into Onyxia people, as you dont stand a chance against someone who has an easier time gearing and sniping, while being super experienced.

*edit: Whats the purpose of lower queue time on 2.5k rating if i dont have time to gear 5 chars, while someone could do it with less time on Blackrock and just snipe my one or two chars. And everyone who played high rating outside of Retail knows how commong sniping is and how it kills the high rated games.

Exactly!
Having fast pop on BGs is coolio.
But bringing Arenas into it would be a disaster.

Myself and a lot of other pvp players are really happy that there is blackrock tbc coming. I know a lot of ppl wouldn't even bother to play if its only onyxia server.

Furthermore its a profit for the pvp activity on onyxia aswell - like it will contribute to an active arena ladder / fast bg pops.

Considering at this moment, There is barely anything to gain from BGs and they are still poping very fast, this argument really lacks a foundation, because arguably when the honor is used to farm a gear in TBC, BGs will get even more activity.

It's not profit actually if you read other people's comments to understand what we are referring to.
Yes, BGs will have faster pops.
Yes, the arena ladder will be contested.

But the arena ladder will be contested in the way it shouldn't.
Keeping arena ladder separated and if they want to cross-realm something then cross-realm BGs would be way more profitable.

We are trying to keep the Onyxia realm progressive without other realms interacting with it.

Being the r1 2s team on Onyxia and being the r1 team on Blackrock are two different things since Onyxia's grind for that r1 is way more bigger.

Dear Warmane stuff,
all points mentioned by many people in this topic are valid, stating that merging Blackrock and Onyxia PvP will absolutely ruin the PvP experience. And to be honest, it will screw up the whole Onyxia server.

There are many people who came to play here mainly becuase of the progression system and TBC server in the future. Big part of that is TBC PvP. We all want true TBC experience, where you need to invest your time in raiding, preparation for raiding, then slowly gathering your wished gear which you can then use in PvP, as a reward for your hard work and time spent in a collective/raiding environment.
The above absolutely does not apply to anyone playing on Blackrock, farming the gear literally for free using Honor and arena points. Even if we take aside the fair factor, this is NOT real TBC experience, this is not the "normal" progressive realm experience we were promised. After 1 year of investment of our time, this would be a really shady and unfair move. This has not been announced when Onyxia realm was about to came. Because if it was, many people would not even bother playing Onyxia. And this will be exactly the case, if you merge Blackrock and Onyxia arenas - a lot of peple will simply chose the easy way out, gearing on Blackrock and ignoring Onyxia. Which will make Onyxia's population even lower, and server experience even worse.

Feel free to make cross-realm BG's, but PLEASE do not apply this to arenas.

Also anyone saying how this would improve Onyxia's PvP is delusional. It will be the exact opposite, as I have explained above. If there are "hardcore" PvP players, they can play on Blackrock all they want, playing against each other there. But don't mix Onyxia with that.

I know this might be harsh to read, but you did not listen to community once, when we all cried for changing Vanilla PvP system (E.G. ranks based on honor instead of amount of HK's) and literally everyone on Onyxia will tell you that PvP was ruined because of that (/wave AV bridge afk farm).
So please listen to the community this time and don't make Onyxia's arenas cross-realm with Blackrock.

What a fiesta idea. Stop taking these cheap lentils and switch on something more expensive so u never ever come up with that idea again. POV how to ruin onyxia server with one bad decision.

I can only speak for my guild; but we want to pvp against people who have to work for it in the same manner that they do. Joining a Bg or arena and having people with slightly varying gear levels is extremely important. Blackrock is going to push that significantly further in the highly geared / max gear direction. From what I remember, arena points reward twice per week on Blackrock (I could be wrong). You can also complete daily and weekly quests granting you extra Arena Points. You can get AP at a much faster pace on Blackrock. The speed at which they get gear is incomparably fast (Warmane may scale this down for TBC version?) to Onyxia.

It’s really going to suck for us as many guildees are trying to learn pvp (BRAND new to it), and now have to fight fully bis gear, gems, enchants, overconsumed, free professions (no need to farm money, so they all have max engineer / JC etc.), etc. Oh and by the way, most people are casual. In any guild, any time, people do not play 24/7. Even Blackrock players can only play a set time per week. But now Onyxia has to play WAY more in order to compete with Blackrock (especially in season 1). I know plenty of people who will not even join into Battlegrounds because this is being implemented. They want a fair fight. They don't want to be carried by BR members on their team, and they don't want to get killed in 1 frost nova by the enemy team, either.

Blackrock vs. icecrown is one thing. It’s fully progressed, and for many years. Blackrock vs. TBC is insane. Onyxia has to fight so hard for raid gear, enchant recipes, professions, dungeon pre-bis, BG gear, reputation, etc. Oh, and people bringing up the shop are uninformed. We can only buy raid items AFTER the season that contains them is OVER. Blackrock WILL BE ABLE TO BUY THEM SAME SEASON if the vendors are mimicking how they handled this when Blackrock + Frostmourne ram side by side. BLACKROCK WILL ABSOLUTELY HAVE A MASSIVE ADVANTAGE OVER ONYXIA.

Insane that it’s even there at all. This should be 100% segregated from Onyxia in all fashions

I support Blackrock crossrealm with Onyxia. Only playable form of wow for many people is a Blackrock-type server. It would make sense to implement delayed accesibility of PvE gear on Blackrock tho.

onyxia ladder will benefit from having blackrock linked to their arena ladder simply because it will boost activity by a lot, it will increase the skill level of arena games being played and is going to make sure people can easily jump into the pvp action without having to go through 100 hours of chores such as dungeon farming or having to rely on a guild loot council to get the one item that is going to provide a big power boost in arena.

for pvp players tbc blackrock realm is absolutely mandatory and it would be a mistake to cancel it, the game will play out perfectly fine as was seen in the past.
for the previous wotlk fresh servers there was always the option to create an instant character on blackrock as well with the ladders being linked just as it is going to be the case now.

Thats what we are all about and what is a big issue with having cross-realm arenas between progressive and PVP servers.

We do not need a boost in activity. Activity is going to be just fine without an instant server to "help". We do not see it as help. We see it as against the values / reason / point as to why we play an isolated, PROGRESSIVE, server.

Blackrock players can play against themselves. I do not think anyone is in favor of dismantling Blackrock. Let them play as they wish, but SEPARATELY.

If you do not have time to play WoW, that does not mean you should get to play a version that has advantages over people who are *spending what time they do have to play WoW in the form it was intended to be played* - Pve, pvp, leveling, world events, raids, reputations, professions, explorations, etc. We do not want to play with people who are not experiencing ACTUAL WoW. Segregate Onyxia / Blackrock 100%.

you do not have to put more effort in than people on blackrock, people on blackrock still spend time to farm the currency needed and rating required to buy the items.
if you want to give blackrock players a similar gearing experience as progress servers you could make them buy random items instead of getting the one they actually want, just like in real guilds.
or release some items after X weeks to emulate raid IDs and get some rng factor to it too.

I dont get why u all complain that much, it wont even affect you. Those people will be isolated on blackrock server - u only see them in bg/arena - where they progressively gear up in the same arena season. Lots of ppl see no joy in multiple hours of grind/level just to be ready to enter pvp - thus the blackrock server is a great option for them.

Whats the reason to make the entry to arena as hard and grindy as possible... i think everyone taking pvp a bit serious will appreciate this blackrock tbc option big time.

Do you know how you get pve items on blackrock? yeah, didnt think so.

On onyxia you have to go out and farm the item for hours instead of simply buying the item from vendor like on blackrock.
