Offtopic (from 40k vs warcraft books), but try reading the books about Drizzt or the wheel of time, the prince of throns, inheritance, the first law, the name of the wind (patrick rotfuss series). All awesome fantasy books, I can highly recommend.

I was thinking of trying the prince of nothing but it's unlikely to be soon, rip. Can't agree on those books being the only fantasy tho. Gene Wolfe is just a master at the craft which is why Book of the New Sun is so good, and Bakker explores an interesting and compelling world while incorporating a deep philosophical aspect into his books.
The greeks are a must for anyone who ever wants to read anything and Tolkien is thee classic.
What else is there is just filler at the end of the day.
