Coming from a 4x frost multiboxer who uses howling blast like a madman to kill people solely with ranged attacks in BGs : not really, until you pop full cooldowns (pillar + orc racial + cataclysmic badge + golemblood potion). Then there's a tiny bit of extra awesome.
I mean to ask why ppl are using frost pres I asked a few of emm and they say it gives more crit.
No they are ******s.
Simple as, there is no reason ever in Cata to be using Frost Presence, the increase of GCD is the main factor, your all about getting out damage quickly which means having the lowest GCD possible. Not to mention the actually attack haste gained from it.
Frost Presence does NOT effect crit. All it does is increase damage done and increase runic power generation. Sounds great but it really isn't. The 1-1.5s GCD jsut kills your fluidity.
I tested this out and then realized there's even more stuff to worry about in cata and I do not have enough fingers to push all dem buttons. >.<
Kemii, a few questions for you if you please. Bear in mind I am a newb to DKs and have no idea about little details so excuse my silly questions:
Why no Obliterate? Bad DPS?
2H vs Dual Wield, why are 1H so bad? I always wanted to use those in pvp but there seems to be a consensus that it is not viable.
Runic power dump for frost is Frost Strike? Why not Rune Strike? Coefficients favour Rune Strike for 2Handed weapons, or am I missing something?
EDIT: Lastly, can I ask you some questions about Blood pvp?
No Obliterate for the sole fact most Frost DKs are new to the game and are not interested in learning Unholy which is vastly superior. Not wasting time with when and how to use Oblit correctly, it's easy to take it out competey and instead work around a much simpler and just as effective playstyle.
2h allows much more control and higher sustained pressure from both necro damage and the fact you put out a little more DPS and gain more runic power from using a 2h.
Rune Strike shouldn't even be on your bars... Frost Strike is ALL magic damage, ignores armor and scales with mastery and AP.
Frost is nerfed but I think it is playable especailly on bg. I use dw km is often and no obliterate. Obliterate wastes uh and frost rune u can instead of that spam necro and hb and that is more effective and when u charge rp km turns on and than use frost strike. If u dont have rp then use ice of chains (when u have pvp armor it gets 30 rp) or hb and than u regenarate rp enough to use frost strike on km. I know it isnt like obli but it does the job. Also i see people (even with full cata) playing in frost presence which is huge mistake they are wasting haste and attack speed plus gcd. It is hard to be frost but when u know mechanic u will be unstoppable. The main catch with frost is to burst quickly and quickly to kill enemy cause frost doesnt have survivability as unholy.
The people who run around in Frost Presence I laugh at so hard. Complete lack of understanding of class mechanics. I make sure they die an agonizing and humiliating death.
I would however play a Obliterate build for DW frost, Since most of the healers I have encountered in BGs as of late are Priests and Druids.
But would you choose that DW Oblit build over the 2h FS build featured in your guide? For BGs I mean. I know you highlight the 2h FS build in your guide because it's by far the most conceptually simplistic, but which would you actually play to be most effective in BGs?
I play UH in arenas and I'm trying to mix it up a little by playing Frost in BGs.
