New rule is stupid.
Spam section is a sub section of Off-Topic, and still falls under its category. As long as posts that deviate or derail a thread aren't derogatory towards players/staff and don't break the other usual rules (no pr0n, avoiding character limit*, avoiding swear censor and whatnot), they should be fine no matter what the thread is.
[strike]Maybe since "Off-Topic" does mean posting threads that are just not about WoW, but don't allow derailing to occur,[/strike]
....If a post in off-topic is not concerning WoW, it stands to reason we shouldn't derail it. That's fine.
If the post is in spam section, the thread poster should know that he/she is giving up any chance of keeping the thread on topic. If they want it to stay on topic, they'll put in Off-topic........weird as that sounds.
*Regarding the other forum rules, most make sense for this forum, but "the 10-character rule" doesn't, imo. Please hear me out.
The 15-20 of us in Spam really do not ****post or try to spam. The era of Narc is gone, as most of you mods will know. There's really no incentive for any of us to spam 1-5 letter posts, as all it will do is annoy the rest of us in Spam. And in a normal section that makes sense, but here we're like a ....tight-knit if volatile and weird family. We're not trying to piss each other off, unless a certain member that most of us dislike is involved. But that's off the topic of character rule.
It's just bad. ....It's annoying if we have a response to a post, or an opinion to offer, and it's say 7 characters. We then have to add weird words or dots that we don't really want to add just to make it pass those 10 characters. And none of the 20 of us in Spam, like I said above, would try to abuse that. Not to avoid pissing you off, but to avoid pissing the rest of us off. It's just not a concern for this section.
...k there's my opinion.
Getting back on topic because apparently we have to stay on topic even though this is spam:
