Why no PVE only server?

so ? your perception of things is biased bcus of what YOU witnessed, i see atleast every 5 minutes one 60 ganking lowlevel players, heck i even see people ignoring fair pvp and ignoring same lvl enemys and just go straight for the ones that are 10 level below so pls dont assume bcus you walk around with pink shades that the world is made up of marshmallows and candy.

exactly and thats what they will never understand there is a big portion of players who dont give a arats *** that others enjoy pvp, we dont care if you fight against other pvp enthusiast for what we care you can pvp 24/7 but people who simply do not want to participate in this should be able to simply switch something in account management so we dont have to wait everytime... bcus it is nothing more than stupid waiting, we dont fight back we just stand there wait till we are dead and then try to go and quest or do other things.

but it seemes ppl get a massive ego boost from killing someone who is clearly not even resisting at all because he doesnt care.

ppl who try to force others into a confrontation are just pathetic and albeit this being world of WARcraft pvp is not the "driving factor" of this game.

Anyway, on a 1x realm, there will always be low level pvp to some extent. Even so, the contested zone's pvp flag isn't about low level pvp. The point of the "pvp realm" sort of mechanics in contested zones is that a player chooses to put themselves at risk, recognize that it is a "world at war", and realize that war is often not fair and that there is risk involved in the game.

Risk is a good feeling in a videogame scenario if you can prevent it or react to any kind of unexpected danger and survive it but this doesn't apply to ganking.

On a pve realm players wouldn't enable pvp while leveling because they want to avoid to get killed while questing.
The result of it gonna be that the content "world pvp" is inexistent on a PvE realm and the ppl that want "WAR" wont get it.

No, its not. This argumentation can also be used vice versa:
The fact that world pvp happens frequently on a PvP realm is the proof that the ppl want world pvp because players aren't forced to fight against each other on a PvP realm. Its their own decision to keep the war between Alliance and Horde alive.

This point is what troubles me... Is there any fun killing a player who is 20 levels (or more) under yours? Or just it's a sublimation of the incapacity of such players to satisfy their sexual need (do not dare to speak with them about girl- or boyfriends, because they do not have it for sure)? For this side it's just making a player LOSE HIS TIME on purpose. I don't want to meet such players out of WoW. They must be really sad, or such a criminal ones...

I do agree. Which is one of the few reasons I've been an advocate within the staff for the possibility of a 'Normal realm'. Don't misunderstand me when I say this, though. That does not mean that we will be making a 'Normal realm'. Currently, the bulk of our time and resources are invested in Lordaeron, so if such a realm were ever to appear, it would be further into the future after the server as a whole grows and develops some more.

Also I am pretty sure BGs and Arenas and so on and so fourth keep the PvP action plenty alive on all kinds of servers.

The fact "world PvP" happens on a PvP server just boils down to people not having the choice. How can you say that you aren't forced to fight each other when you take away the option for people to not fight? Do you mean as in not playing? Well, it's no secret that the major reason I for one don't play on servers here at my work is the lack of a PvE server, but some people like the game more than they dislike having their fun messed with. Does that means that they "accept" PvP when they don't quite have a choice unless it means not playing?

I would be absolutely fine with a custom limitation that u can't attack players that are significant lower than u.
Imo high level chars that are ganking lowies is absolute boring, unfair and it ruins the low level pvp fun when a high level player participates in such a battle.

On the other hand im against the idea to completely abandon world pvp like it would be the case on a PvE realm. When everybody has the same level range world pvp can be very interesting and fun.

Thats my whole point.

I think that the 2 points you are losing are that PvP si fun for you (and not for everyone) and that PvP must be volunteer and your position is making it mandatory for you random choice of rival.

That sounds reasonable. Sadly, it'd require a lot of work, and I can imagine people would be against it too, with their primary argument being "HUE WHERS TEH THRILLZ OMG SCRUBZ LELELEL" or something like that.

Lets assume Im questing on a PvE realm and I have nothing against world pvp from time to time.
Why should I toggle PvP on and give other players the possibility to attack me first?
Its just tactically unwise to give other player the possibility to attack me in a unprepared moment while qusting.
Instead I would toggle PvP off and only toggle it on when I am sure that I would win the battle.
Most ppl would do that so in the end World PvP would be dead.

Thats the reason why the model of a PvE realm just doesn't work with world PvP.
Sometimes u just have to force ppl into world pvp or it doesnt happen at all. Its just part of PvP that its not always fair.

I would support a PvE realm where u cant attack players that are over 5 levels below u when their PvP is turned off.
However equal high players would have the possibility to attack each other even when PvP is turned off.
This way ganking lowies would be prevented but world pvp would still happen.

So, basically, PvPers would abuse a game mechanic, they themselves opting out of PvP flagging, not even sticking to their own principle of "world PvP is fun" and "there's challenge in being attacked when you're not prepared," only actually claiming that when people are forced out of their fun to fit into your fun.
And people wonder why I don't play.
