Yeah, if only games these days took use of those storytelling elements that are unique to games.
Watching cutscenes from a bland protagonist's perspective can be done in movies too.
Meanwhile games with unique ways to tell a story like Ys series, Nier, Souls series, King's Field series are completely overshadowed by "MUH CINEMATIC EXPERIENCES" like Bio**** Infinite.
Nier mind****s you completely when you look back at subtle foreshadowing during big reveals.
Meanwhile in a movie that foreshadowing would not exist, would be a detail only autists notice, or not subtle at all.
I made fun of one of the members of the runner up team for ragnaros before I transferred to lord :|
Or I think, I might have done bg's or something with them, we were in the same guild for a bit.
Aren't you in love with Metal Gear Solid? And you're very...very closed minded about games and I'm sure about life in general lol. I didn't care about the cinematic in Bioshock Infinite. I fell in love with the story and that's what I usually look for in games.
Story
Gameplay
Graphics
If the story is a failure....................I'll hope for amazing gameplay..............If gameplay is also a failure...................I'll hope for amazing graphics so I can look at cool **** while having a ****ty time playing the game.
The thing is that Metal Gear Solid offers storytelling elements outside cutscenes, which isn't that apparent to people who haven't played the games much.
In all games, you have codec conversations that contain over half of the actual story of the game. Then there's AI TECHNOLOGY with which you can find out more details if you look really hard. And even in cutscenes there are tons of things implied, not just flat out stated.
But sure, these could count for lots of games.
MGS2 fans still aren't done debating whether MGS2 was VR or not. The game also breaks the fourth wall alot, and Kojima plays with your mind.
Raiden = the player
S3 plan = the game itself
Patriot AI = Kojima himself
There's also alot of stuff in MGS3, but I forgot about it because I see it as a spy flick turned into a game.
MGS4 is riddled with cutscenes, and this is where the MGS series separates itself from majority of games that are also filled with cutscenes: gameplay. In most games, you run through pipes and do things the same way every time, in MGS you have lots of variety in your hands, and can do things creatively. There's so many ways to get past guards that I don't think I can list them all.
MGS4 having lazy writing with nanomachines and too many railshooting sequences and cutscenes is almost completely pardoned with the free gameplay sections.
It's called "not buying everything that just looks remotely interesting."
Kinda with Gabba Gabba in that I think story comes second. A really good story can make the game more enjoyable and keep you engaged, but if the gameplay is bad, it's a bad game.
Final Fantasy XIII is the biggest example imo.
You can't go 20 steps without getting another 20 minute cutscene.
Huge emphasis on a big epic story, but the gameplay consists of the same type of combat system in the same linear corridors for the whole game pretty much.
FFXIV looks decent.
You're all wrong. A game's worth is determined by its Pedometer(No, not the step counting one.) If it has at least one lewd, obscene, lascivious, lecherous, salacious and voluptuous scene involving a loli, it's DESIRE/10. If it doesn't it's scandalous and unacceptable, and gets a 0/10.
Noctis has the ultimate emo look.
Trying to figure out how to implement expires/duration API for new rev of my addon.
Seems its impossible to pull duration from the game, **** wont work without writing **** *** long timer function.
So I basically added Savage Defense, Blood shield and Vengeance (amount) tracker, you think i should add PW:Shield, divine aegis...?
The only thing capable of rising XIII to playable status are the sidequests.
I hope the game will be a real time action RPG, not just pressing buttons for fancy looking actions.
Watched a movie today. It was a finnish movie based on real events: a plane hijack in Finland in 1978, I think. It was both comical and thrilling. A very interesting movie.
