When Neltharion closed we got the option to transfer our characters to wotlk so players could still keep their achievements/mounts and memories.

When that happened I remember wotlk players were really unhappy with the new players coming in with pvp titles and achievements, so maybe that made them change their approach to how they deal with closing the realm

Maybe after they allowed transferring characters from neltharion to icecrown there was an increase in accounts being sold on the black market since they became a lot more valuable with rare titles and as one of the mods said above they didn’t want to play another expansion.

Personally I sent my characters to icecrown and then couldn’t be bothered to gear up so made new ones on blackrock and played for years.

Only thing I’ll miss from Frostwolf is my Heart of the Aspects mount that was obnoxiously big and funny to use in bgs :(

Rip I just found out but this makes me want to download the game again and log on to blackrock now and play some soloq

I understand, I didn't mean to undermine the situation regarding lost characters. I still remember when Frostwolf first got reset during the Moltdown shortly after becoming a MOP server lol. Good times were had here and good luck moving forward.

and how many hero`s i can move? 1 or 8???? i have 8 hero`s i want 8 hero`s 70 lv i not want to leveling.....

You can't "move" your characters, they will be removed.

Great. I never made it to max level and I've been away for years, only returning now. I really enjoyed playing my characters on frostwolf. thanks for nothing. rip frostwolf.

I have been closely following the decision to shut down Frostwolf, and I want to share a balanced perspective — not just criticism, but what many long-time players of this server are likely feeling.

First, I understand Warmane’s position. Maintaining a realm with low activity consumes resources that could be better allocated elsewhere. From a management perspective, the decision is logical. The team has kept Frostwolf running for a long time, even as activity declined, and that deserves respect.

However, from the players’ point of view — especially those who have been loyal for years — the proposed compensation seems insufficient. Many of us have invested not only coins and time, but also friendships, achievements, collections, and guild memories that cannot simply be replaced with a boost or a refund of coins. The emotional and social value of these years is far greater.

One of the fairest ways to compensate players would be through a boost for their characters when transferring to another server of the player’s choice. This means:

Each active player should be able to select one main character to transfer to a server of their choice;

The selected character should receive a boost to the level and gear reached on Frostwolf;

All achievements, titles, and part of the progress should be preserved as much as possible.

Communication and empathy are crucial in moments like this. Even if the shutdown is unavoidable, the way it is handled will determine whether the Frostwolf community remembers Warmane with disappointment or understanding.

but they did this? the only issue, that most people have, is that its not on a MOP server, but a TBC (soon to be Wotlk) server. Wrath is essentially the only expac that warmane offers at this point. the only reason we had vanilla>tbc is because at the time, it was highly sought after.

I dont think people understand how much time and energy needs to be put in this in order to achieve that. MOP runs on an entirely different client. even when this happened from cata to wrath. it was an extremely painful process and if i remember correctly. it did not go smoothly at all. alot of people had issues with their characters. like for example me personally. have a literal rank 1 gladiator title for my old cata character but my achievements, statistics and lower titles (challenger, rival etc) did not transfer over properly.

aside from that, like someone in this thread mentioned already, when they shut down cata and let people transfer realms. they immediately started selling their accounts on the [private server black market]. im sure everyone can see why thats not gonna be a good idea to do again. would it be a nice thing to do? ofcourse. would it cause detrimental consequences in the immediate future? absolutely.

and doing all that for what? the 50 people who log in once a week? in 3 weeks this post has 9 pages of replies. and most of it is the same 4 people arguing with devs. this entire thread is literal proof as to why its not even worth it to put any effort into keeping you people happy.

Yea it might of been just a few asking for better compensation in this thread, but most of the player base know it was a lost cause hoping for better. Look at how we have been treated why would anyone that liked Frostwolf expect anything in the end? I mean green and 1 level 70 was the absolute bare minimum. They could of given 80 with some ulduar sets and some max profession and ban accounts that not on its last ip if selling accounts was an issue. We went out as we lived.

I stopped playing Frostwolf since 2018 but still feel unfair i don't going to have any refund for being a active player reaching 3 90 characters with epic gears and many mounts i collected with them, atleast would be great having a refund of the points i spend...

Have consideration with every max level players tbh!

I used to play in Frostwolf and recently I got the itch back again and I was wondering if there was a chance I could get a boost yet?. I haven't been active in years but I'm kinda bummed my main server/expansion is gone :(
