[WoD] Minimum requirements before open

This may be somewhat of a suggestion, but I think it should be for general discussion for now.

Before I start, I do not want the next paragraph to sound like a big complaint about all the good efforts the staff are doing right now on MoP, it is more of a comment on the realm being released too soon and illustrates the subsequent suggestion for general discussion.

The big problem with MoP is it has been available for quite some time and we are no where near anywhere close to having the content that makes MoP different from previous expansions added yet. In theory a player could play all character types up to level 90 on MoP, get all BiS gear on all those characters, play for 2 more years, get bored, leave for a couple of years, then come back and still the MoP content will not be done yet. For example, they haven't release even 1 scenario and no mention of tillers farming etc. Its ok not to have everything done prior to open, but things that set MoP apart from previous expansions are things we'd like to see, or it would be better to wait until they are available. Think of Blizzard trying to sell the new expansions, players read the new things on the expansion box then get excited and buy the expansion to see those new things.

Now for the suggestion. WoD has a bunch of features that makes it unique from previous patches, the list may be an old one but you get the idea:
1.) Garrisons
2.) 7 new PvE zones, one world PvP
3.) 7 new dungeons, 2 new raids
4.) New scenarios, world bosses and challenge modes.

My suggestion is that it remains in testing and not open as a regular zone until at least Garrisons and the new scenarios/world bosses, and a good number of the new raids are working. Yes I understand progression and such but in private server some do not care about progression, they just want to try all the new content before they are old and grey. This way after it is publically opened staff can focus on the rest of the WoD dungeons in a timely fasion and whatever class bugs need to be done and can fill in the cracks with broken quests and older content.

I sort of wished I waited 5 more years until the unique content and old dungeons were installed to try MoP and don't want to have the same experience on WoD. This is for discussion, the player community can weigh in their opinions so staff can decide this in the future.

MoP was released on Warmane in October if i'm not mistaken, that makes it an 8 months old expansion. It might not be in the state you wished it might be (fully released SoO, all bgs and arenas working, scenarios etc), but from what i understand in your post, you just recently joined MoP. I moved from Wotlk to MoP the day it was announced and i even played the PTR before going live, and let me tell you, alot of progression has been made, despite the lack of it that might seem.
When it was released, there was basically no PVE content, no world bosses, no dungeon or raid scripted, no arenas, rdf was not working, basically the only thing you could possibly do after hitting lvl 90 was to play the 3 bg's that were scripted. Not to mention the completely bugged specs that some classes had, in which most spells didn't work. Give it time, its the youngest expansion and alot has to be done. Cata realms for example received fully released DS 2 years after the expansion came to Warmane.

As for WoD, my guess is that it will take at least a year to go live on Warmane, and even more to bring it in a playable state.

Since MoP opened the staff is doing a fine job adding/fixing, but really when I read about MoP expansion I thought "Neat, I think I should play that expansion because of the new stuff" (that no other expansion ever had, like scenarios and tillers/farming etc). And those things are long before added here. I think my point is MoP should have had all those done prior to opening here. The items that will not be added for ages are the items that define the expansion. Choosing between a mostly working wotlk (most old content works), or mop (very little old content works), can feel like a downgrade since much of the new stuff is not in place to offset the losses of the old.

Its sort of like trading in your Corvette for a new Lambourghini but it will be a few years before they install the engine and a couple more before they install the sleek body. So for now you just push around a car that is just an empty frame.

You say that as if there wasn't a demand for the expansion in its current state. There are a lot of people that begged and pleaded for the expansion, and do enjoy it enough to play it instead of the other expansions we offer, as evidenced by the population on the realm in question. That isn't even to mention that it is an awfully lot of time and work for us to invest into a project for us to keep it away from the community and their ability to donate and offer support for the development of that expansion otherwise (testing, reports, etc). Basically put, you might not think we should've created a realm for the expansion, but there are plenty of people who disagree with you. If you don't want to play it, then by all means, don't play it.

Many of the people who are on there are like myself and thought that the main things would already be done. I do think all expansions should be represented and I do think they are all worth playing. Remember, this thread isn't a complaint about existing expansions, just a discussion about what unique to the expansion items should be working prior to opening it. I suggest that Garrisons, all old and new scenarios, and the first set of raid/dungeons are available before opening. Others should see my list of whats unique about WoD and give feedback what they would like to see working prior to open.

Doesn't it makes more sense for you to only start playing when your "list of requirements" is met, leaving everyone else to decide for themselves when is the time to play, knowing whatever limitations it might have at launch or any other point in time? As Sapphire says, if you don't like the state it is in at launch or whenever, simply don't play there. Not opening it simply because it's doesn't "suits" you, while it might be fine with hundreds or thousands of other players, is ludicrous.

You forgot to mention how WoD is the most complained about expansion since Cata and actually far surpasses Cataclysm in lack of content, Selfie/twitter intergration, lack of flying, ability pruning, sitting in garrisons all day sending followings out to do what we should be doing, casters got shafted horribly, Rares that aren't rare, pointless puzzles for pointless garrison resources, Apex dailies that suck, and the horrible story because we all know time travel sucks!

Point being players are leaving retail WoW in droves, so why waste time making the worst expansion ever on a private server?

what he's trying to say is that you guys should not launch wod until the base-line content aka Garrisons are fully Scripted and atleast 60% development progression done, but to achieve such progression you guys need feedback right? so just make a closed ptr for a few select that are willing to help

I don't disagree, but WoD is currently on the backburner. We're working on it here and there, but our focus is currently on what we already have. As of this moment, there are huge changes going on WotLK, and we still have much work to do on Cata/MoP.

Dude, lol calm down. It's okay. There is nothing I said that warranted a "F'off" and you are completely and totally out of line by saying such a thing on a public forum where players are suppose to expressing their thoughts, opinions, and even experiences. My post was my opinion and mine alone, that's it, nothing more, nothing less. As far as WoD goes. I was there okay. I was in Beta and I was there when the game went live. I was reading the forums when people had list of compliants to Blizzard begging them to fix this and fix that and one of the biggest issues that people listed was how the game makes it feel like its all about sitting in your garrison all day and doing a facebook game. Now, not only did I read this on the forums, but I saw this in beta and I witnessed it first hand when it went live and people came rushing to the forums demanding refunds and complaining how the game felt so empty. This is also one of the biggest reasons I unsubbed and walked away 5 months, because those people were right!

Garrisons weren't the only problem though. It was totally uncool how blizzard raped and stripped our characters of their abilities making them feel weak and useless, I hadn't felt this bad since Cataclysm, but hey even in Cataclysm I still felt strong and didn't feel like I had an empty spellbook. I don't know if you know this, but some classes got it really really bad, Disc Priest being 1 button wonders, Elemental Shamans being completely and totally useless, Warlocks being a less form of a mage (why play lock when you can play a mage and be superior?). This wasn't the usual compliant my friend about how this class was op and needs to be nerfed, this was a huge problem where they screwed up and left several classes dead in the water and some are still really bad off especailly considering all Range can't cast and move at all and their all stuck their dead in the water and the whole expansion is dominated by melee.

But that's just PvP, PvE also had it's huge list of problems as well, but I won't bite into that on this post.

I guess I'll touch on the biggest problem of them how. The open world. Now as I listed before Garrisons took a lot, well almost everything from the open world and Blizzard's stance and silence on the removal of flying wasn't helping things either and people just didn't wanna go out and pointlessly farm lame puzzles farm a useless piece of gear or useless garrison resources, so the world became incredibly empty over a very short period of time as there was no real fun form of transportation (flying) and to add insult to injury they gave us more flight paths than needed and that just made the world feel smaller and weaker. So what was left to go out into the open world for? Rares? They really weren't rare considering you kill them once and it never mattered ever again. Bonus quest? Nobody cared about these in the first place. Is this a good time to mention the COMPLETELY REMOVED A WHOLE FREAKING ZONE? A beloved zone that was adored in TBC, just wiped off the map? Gone! and for now what? a raid, sure that's nice, but that's a huge zone and all there is to do around the hub is apex dailies and farm new mats. Point being to all this is Dreanor felt incredibly small and it was incredibly wrong of Blizzard to do such a horrible job on an expansion they boosted and bragged about for over a year.

There are plenty more things wrong with WoD, but i'm not going to post them all here as I don't care to waste anymore of my time, but it's fine, I honestly want Warmane to release a WoD server, not because I think it'll do great, but because in some strange way it'll be wrong of them not to do it, I mean they've released everything else up to WoD, so why not, right? I've said my peace and I've said all that I can say and now all that's left to do is let time tell the truth. It'll be interesting to see if WoD on Warmane can hold a decent population and if it really is worth the hard work and effort to keep up in running, so I guess we'll all have to see won't we? Apparently you forget the obvious. Starting a server with everyone else (fresh player wipe after beta) versus a server with thousands of fully geared players who abused many bugs to get there is a different experience. Also once a server goes live there is a level of commitment and urgency by staff to keep on top of the much bigger list of bugs that come in. This would mean the other realms would get a lot less attention, meaning really no realm will ever be done. (any wotlk players want to second that?).

I do not think its too much to ask that the day it opens it has the major components that blizzard players had when they first installed the expansion after it was released. When I say major, i do not mean every quest working and all class bugs worked out. But lets say most class bugs worked out, and just those things that make it unique. Really if the major component of the expansion is that players can choose to sit in thier garrisons all day, then that is the experience we should have here too. Not open the thing without garrisons, and 10 years later when there are only 3 players left to release it.

Hopefully they won't launch WoD for 2 years... (please please please)

Then your basic argument is that no one should be able to play until things meet your "standards," because you won't play, but also don't want the ones interested in playing to get a "head start"? This expansion isn't any sort of priority or something with a dire need to be released as soon as possible, but don't expect its released whenever it happens to be based on your personal wants. The choice will be yours to join it with the content it happens to have on release or not, whether it matches your personal "requirements" partially, fully or not at all.
