Need help with a PvE Rogue build

My GF and I, after long debating, started playing on this server. We are playing Rogues and it's a fun, but hard class.

I am a little more experienced playing WoW due playing many private servers, but still pretty amateuristic. My GF on the other hand, Is totally new. She knew rogue is one of the hardest classes but she wanted to play it anyway.

It is a bit unsure which spec we want to go. It was either a combat rogue or an assassination rogue. So far we just turned level 10 and we had put 1 talent in the assassin spec.

I have been trying to find guides regarding the *** and Com rogues but I just can not find any build with full explained Talents and more.

1. What is better for PvE (raiding later on) and which is easier to play? Combat or Assassin? (I heard assassin is a the top runner)
2. With maybe us sticking to the Assassin for now. What is the best Talent build for assassins you can make? (A picture, or link to a guide with a picture of this would be great)
3. What kind of trinkets are recommended?.
4. What is a good tip for energy management early on?

Other than that, Combat should pull more dps than assa, especially here, with some bugs in assasin. Envenom, or poisons, something is not working how it supposed to be, so assa falls behind in dps.
But assa is te easier one, you literally have to keep up 2-3 buffs, and spam 2 abilities.

1. Combat is better late due to burst damage and the 4% debuff. But stick to assa until you get proper gear for combat. And assa is the easiest to play.

Pretty nooby question, but could you explain with what you mean with ''Envenom finishers?''.

You use envenom at 3+ combo points. You don't wait for 4 or 5 combo points. So in case your mutilate gets you 3 cp instantly --> you use envenom you don't go for another mutilate for the 4th or 5th combo point.

You are just confusing him, the guy is level 10.


Eitherway, you need to stop over thinking. You are currently leveling, play as combat since daggers for either sub or assa is a lot harder to come by then any run of the mill weapon. Only rule to keep in mind, the weapon with the highest end damage goes mainhand. When you hit lvl 80, start collecting daggers and respec to assa once you got 2 daggers. Also assa is by far the worst tree to level with, since your combo point generater becomes available quite late and you won't have envenom for quite a while either.

On another note, your trinket question is very unspecific. Do you intend to donate for your trinkets? If yes, then get 1 trinket (sts which is linked above) and rather buy a dagger as your 2nd purchase. If you intend to use vote points, same deal. And if it was directed towards leveling, then just wear whatever you can, really doesnt matter.

Rogues are a pain to level up, so I hope you two won't lose your motivation. Best of luck.

http://wotlk.openwow.com/talent#fMZM...xbcdIGddhzAboh those would be lvling talents. Start in Assa spec then proceed to Sub spec get to Hemorrhage, after that go for Blade Flurry in Combat tree in the end u finish Sub spec.

U kill mobs with ambush and sinister strike and burn combo points with Eviscerate. Once u get hemorrhage u use that instead of Sinister Strike. And when ya get blade flurry u can pull 3-4 mobs w/o a prob.

Get plenty of food with ya and loot every HP pot that u can and lvling rogue won't be painful. Lvling rogue is actually one of the easiest things for me. Just don't forget to loot the best possible HP potions.

I'd choose combat for levelling,and remember you can pickpocket humanoids for additional loot like food and potions.Also,take note at which levels you can buy new poisons from the vendors,as they provide a substantial increase in damage.Rogues are great for levelling,as they have many control abilities like gouge and blind,as bandaging mid-fight is a very good thing(get first aid,level it,you'll love it),also you can just escape when the tables turn with vanish.

They are both lvl 10, he mentioned that. And why would you even ever recommend going sub for someone who has no access to herilooms? That spec is straight up dumpster if you rock some crappy dagger from 20 levels ago or if you don't have pre-leveling experience for rogues and know where to get which dagger at X level. Combat is far more flexible when starting out fresh on a server, especially on molten where mobs are buggy as hell when it comes to stealth detection.

As a rogue main. Sub spec gives you more survivability, faster CDs on those survival abilities and combat is meant as a raiding spec not lvling. It relies too much on RNG. Everything else besides Blade Flurry and Killing spree is worthless for lvling. And you don't need heirlooms lmao.... A rogue should lvl-up via ambushes and hemorrhages fast one on one kills with as little rng as possible except for survival ones. There's absolutely no reason to go combat for lvling. U just make your life hard and as u said it becomes a pain to lvl up.

Edit: I've forgot to mention. Get remorseless attacks(talents) asap.

I just leveled up as a sub rogue, using the talents that he provided. All I had was heirloom chest. I could get fine daggers every 5 levels or so via the quests.
Worked pretty fine for me, and I went from one mob to the other :) Was actually a lot of fun, while as combat, I did struggle.

But everyone has their preferences, if you liked combat better, then go for it. For me sub was a lot more exciting :)

With this talent tree, the cd on vanish is actually a lot lower, giving you more possibilities to back out of a bad situation to retry it later.
I have never entered any buggy mobs, with the increased Stealth from Vanish, none of them noticed me.

To get some **** straight, I never once leveled with looms, simply because I level rogues as my main whenever I start somewhere. It was purely directed towards OPs seemingly experience towards finding gear, as you need to know which zones provide actually a dagger. And sub offers nothing that combat doesn't offer in terms of survivability, just to get this straight aswell. Also, just to add in, every rogue is a pain to level regardless of spec, compared to other classes.

^re-read the talents about survival and you don't need heirlooms.

Literally just said you don't need heirlooms and argueing with people over leveling specs is just draining at this point. I just hope if OP decides to roll sub he atleast doesn't run the version you butchered together.
