Concerns Regarding the Blackrock and Onyxia Server Merge
Dear Warmane Development Team,
First, let me thank you for your ongoing efforts in maintaining an enjoyable and stable World of Warcraft experience on your servers. Your dedication to creating a vibrant community is greatly appreciated. However, I am writing to express my concerns regarding the recent merge of Blackrock and Onyxia, which I believe has introduced significant challenges that threaten the balance and enjoyment of the game for many players.
As a dedicated PvE and PvP player, I find that PvE progression serves as a rewarding avenue to gain an edge in arenas—a goal many of us strive toward. Unfortunately, this merge has created a disparity that is difficult to ignore. Blackrock players, many of whom are among the best arena competitors in the world, now hold a significant advantage due to their progression and gear accessibility.
This issue became strikingly evident with the release of Karazhan. It has left Onyxia players in a demoralizing position. For those of us who are committed to progressing through content the traditional way, this disparity is disheartening. Farming honor while seeing Blackrock players already equipped with Karazhan loot mere minutes after release undermines the sense of accomplishment and progression for Onyxia players.
This leads me to ask: Why should players continue to invest their time on Onyxia when Blackrock players enjoy such distinct advantages? Moreover, the lack of incentives for Blackrock players to donate, compared to Onyxia players who often do so to avoid queues or acquire specific items, raises questions about the long-term viability and fairness of this merge from both a gameplay and business perspective.
To address this imbalance, I respectfully propose the following:
Reevaluate the merge: Consider reversing the decision to merge Blackrock and Onyxia to preserve the unique progression paths and experiences of each server.
Introduce progression gating for Blackrock: For instance, delaying access to Karazhan gear on Blackrock until Onyxia players have moved on to SSC/TK content.
Such adjustments would help restore balance and provide incentives for players to remain on Onyxia, ensuring a more equitable and engaging experience for all.
I sincerely hope you will take these concerns into consideration. Onyxia has been an incredible journey for me, and I would hate to see its potential eroded by a decision that could be rectified with thoughtful changes.
Thank you for your time and for listening to player feedback.
Best regards,
Slipperyjane
