I've recently joined Icecrown and gearing my first character (PvP Arp Prot Warr) and i've noticed gearing as horde is quite harder than alliance because of not being able to use 2x DPS trinkets and thus reaching the 100% arp cap seems almost impossible?
I am still relatively new to this and playing around with wowhead's gear planner and i've got a few gear setups that i am debating between which to choose (i farm gold and sell it for coins).
Getting 5% hit, armor pen cap and not sacrifice too much resilience is basically impossible from what i can see horde side so thats why i feel like Bloodvenom Blade fits better a horde side ARP prot and also using Executioner enchant both to not lose the 5% armor from berserk which i gather is important vs other meleees and you reach almost 100% with it procced with most setups and meet your other caps. I could be wrong about the weapon tho, the axe might be better cuz of the higher dmg..i am still inexperienced.
One thing i am debating tbh is if T10 tank pieces are actually worth it..
sure 20% shield slam and shockwave damage but you miss on other stats which means you end up with less resilience and less crit and less attack power
its also actually possible to reach passive ArP cap but without the shockwave dmg bonus pieces.
Also thats just 20% extra dmg on an ability with 17s cooldown and on Shield Slam which doesn't even hit that hard if you don't have a lot of block value (which obviously we don't have), i feel like Devastate hits harder most of the time?
But sure you are slamming if theres magic debuffs on enemy worth debuffing, so sure the slam dmg is still useful.
You can play and tweak it however you want, if you’re within these dimensions you will slap hard. I prefer playing with soft cap arp 1280 with executioner enchant and DV HC for consistent and synced STR proc. Need to swap boots and belt though for that build to blood soaked boots and flesh something belt. Losing a bit of crit but keeping relatively many str gems and having very high unbuffed AP. Executioner enchant stays up like 90% of the time and since your trinkets proc together you can time your big dam strikes with shield block+ battle stance. This is how I roll.
Also if you want to have 500ish resilence make peace with having 80%ish arp. It’s not that big of a deal. You just use one more PVE piece so instead ot traditionally going legs, chest and helmet for the resi build, you play with just legs and chest, and use pve helmet. Shield block value is still somewhat very important although nerfed. It gives you the chance to do two or sometimes even three 16-18k crits while shield block is active on clothers.
