WotLK Pet exp gain

Hello readers,

as a lvl 80 hunter, my newly tamed pet lvl 75 is hardly gaining any exp from dungeons/open world mob kills. The lvl gain on pet is really abysmal and I'm not sure I remember it being that way on my last hunter.

Anything I need to keep in mind or am I missing something?

Playing on Lordaeron x1, but still, the lvl gain is painfully slow.

I've just tamed a new pet on icecrown and it's not leveling from 76 on too. No idea why.

Update. Killed a few elites open world and it leveld up.
