There's a holy priest in Sargeras that goes by the name Holyqueen, and he's one of the best priest of the realm. When I asked him about his stats he said:
Spirit : 3500
Haste: 12.40%
Mastery: about 11
No idea about crit.
This priest has completed Glory of the Dragon Soul raider and he told me he did 5 million more healing that the holy paladin in Madness HC.
My stats are:
Haste: 25.40%
Mastery: enough for 20% more healing
Spirit: 2035 (3k with HoU)
I checked his gear and most of the gear is crit chance based, including VP necklace and VP belt.
I did 70k healing in a 25 man normal Madness on the first platform but it resulted in burning almost all my mana, from 160k to 60k, and I wasn't even the first in healing (holy pala was)
Another thing, my guild leader which is a holy paladin said that crit > haste for normal everything but haste > crit for HC DS.
I'll go haste > crit ( 25% haste and 20% crit, or 25% in raids with buff) to test if it increases my HPS but I'D LIKE TO READ YOUR OPINIONS. If a lower geared priest can beat my healing with such a difference of haste and mastery/crit, then something must be wrong.
I was was asked to come heal Warmaster HC on my FL geared HPriest and kept up with our BIS Hpala.
Working out I had about 6k MP5 in combat, which is about what felt right, to the point I was using Core of Ripeness over any other trinket (that and the Stacking Spirit trinket from Spine Normal).
But I wouldnt suggest crit, since with Serenity your getting 50%+ (Minimum) Crit on your FH/GH going out on that target, and crit is terrible for AOE situations anyway.
But always minimum 12.5% Haste before any Mastery for your Renew ticks.
How is crit bad for AoE situations? it is useful for holy paladins, so why not priests too? getting an Echo of light from 200 to 800 heal is not that big of a difference, whereas a crit can top raids. (just an example)
My current gear makes me have 25.40% haste and I can't have lower that that because:
- I reforged all the spirit in my gear to mastery. My echo heals for 20% (or 16 mastery). I find that have 2100 base and 3k spirit with WoU is enough for my needs
- If I reforge the haste to mastery, it will result in having both less haste and less mastery, which means less throughput, and a lot of spirit that I don't need.
Because Paladins have completely different spell mechanics.
Paladin's main ability which is to be used off CD is Holy Shock, critting with a Holy shock reduces the Cast Time and Mana Cost of Holy Radiance (AOE) or Divine Light (Direct Heal).
Paladins do a lot more with Crit that is why it's acceptable for them to use it. (In pvp it's their main stat).
