Cannot connect to the server. Is the server perhaps down?

I've been trying to login for about 6 or 7 hours now, it does the usual, Authenticating etc. But the moment it reaches success! It does not go any further.
Is there perhaps something wrong with my WoW or is it with my Internet?
I would love some ideas on how i can fix this problem.

had the same problem recently (say 18hrs ago)
and then after i did get success! - played for an hour or 2...logged out....and then same problem> it took me 5-6 login/out spams to get success again.

havent had problem since though
...not that this helps you :) - but so you know it hasnt been only just you
