How accurate is Skada/absorbs

I am playing as a disc priest in Wotlk realm and I am always doing more healing and absorb than other healers who have 500+ gs above. I know that disc is good but really is it so op?
I googled and some say it is some kind of guessed absorb? Anyone know how it works, is healing and absorb meter reliable?

well one reason why discs get plenty heals on healmeters is say damage is not very high on a fight and u keep everyone shielded, then barriers wont break and u will do close to 100% healing while the other healers will ahve all their heals counted as overhealing. also shields absorb quite alot, and with gcd being 1 sec you get the shields absorb value plus the glyph as hps (or well absorb per second) when the aoe damage is heavy enough to break shields pretty much insta.

Well, considering this comment is in the SkadaHealAbsorbs.lua file, I'm not entirely sure how accurate either addon is.

Reading further, it would appear that they're tracking when an aura is added and removed, and who created the absorb aura when a player takes damage that is absorbed. The obvious problem being that the combat log has no way of showing which absorb was used to soak that damage. And since I just woke up I'll leave the rest of the parsing to someone else.

TL;DR: If you want accurate absorb counts from any addon then you should be the only person using those type of spells.

EDIT: I did some brief searches on the accuracy of skada and couldn't find any related to the wotlk version that I'm using, they were mostly cata+ posts where skada had been rewritten to no longer need the HealingAndAbsorbs third-party plugin.

And like the person above me said, absorbs have priority over healing, so that's definitely something to consider.

I just did 13k HPS and absorb in ToC 25 Twins encounter. Yes there is a lot of aoe in that encounter and I just spammed shield, but I am crap geared 4.7k gs.
Who else have absorbs, only other disc priests, holy doesnt use shields especially when there is a disc in raid and 2 disc in a raid is not an option.
Maybe blocks from tanks counts as absorb? Sacred shield from paladin etc. ?
When I engaged 1 mob and put shield on me, skada meter showed precise result, but I think in raids it is acting weirdly or discs are really OP.

This is one of those situations where absorbs are scaled wrong and when the combat log is parsed it proves Skada as incorrect. But for other fights I've seen it reporting fine.
