Connecting issues

I have been a member here for a long time but always seemed to have issues in game for various reason. I was here when it was Molten and since I had issues in game I stay out of the private servers and now I find my self alittle stupid now. I can not find anything with istructions on connecting to the servers.. Its been so long since Ive been on a private server I'm calling myself a complete noob.
Wheres the guide for simply logging on to the servers?
I've noticed also that I no longer have any toons now...out of 4 I think.
I have a few coins but thought I had allot more.

Needing some help here: I have an updated versions of WoW (WoD) was gonna play on a MoP server since appearently warmane doesnt have WoD yet.

Im still searching : I've found this :
If you already have a client from elsewhere, change the realmlist to:
set realmlist logon.warmane.com

I'm looking for "realmlist" and I cant find it i've found config.wtf but inside has nothing relating to setting the realmlist....thiers allot of lines in it as well
