Warmane's biggest enemy, in my opinion, is how it is being advertised and compared to other servers on the internet.
Warmane is no longer listed on top100 sites, meaning only people who know about it will find their way to the site. Of course friends will attract friends, but that along with the facebook page and youtube account is not enough when competing with reddit and top100 sites.
I know that we have the largest community of all private servers, and that alone will cause us to grow. Warmane is where the party is at! Too many people who play on or who have ever played private servers in the past know about Molten/Warmane. This server is often talked about on other servers, when people say things like "Is this server better than Motlen/Warmane?" Talk like that is free advertisement for Warmane for anyone who overhears conversations like that.
However, anybody who is completely new to private servers have no way of finding out about Warmane, at least not in a positive light.
A very sad and dangerous thing I see is people in other communities only saying bad things about Warmane. Just go look at all the posts on reddit. Tons of made-up facts and bad-talk about Warmane. Even that youtuber who is getting popular for reviewing private servers seems to have a personal vendetta against Molten/Warmane. The posts he makes are heavily biased, he very obviously hates this server and only points out the downsides to it (like a lot of other people on reddit). Just go read his posts and watch his youtube videos.
You will notice the things he says, he purposely makes fun of Warmane as if to "ride the hype" of how everyone on reddit claims it to be a bad server. Reddit is a very hive-mind type of site, so this is extremely dangerous for Warmane!
I've been playing private servers since about 2007, and I've tried many servers. I would estimate ~100 in total over the past 8 years. When I joined Molten in 2010, it was the best, in my opinion, at the time. I have tried out many other private servers to only come back. The things people say about Motlen/Warmane on sites like reddit I find to be overexagerated in an attempt to make the server and community look bad. The problems pointed out about Warmane exist or are worse on most other servers. Some people are just set out on making us look bad for personal reasons.
only777/dodgykebaab unfortunately has a large influence on a lot of people who don't know any better. Sadly whoever is completely brand new to private servers will only hear bad things about Warmane due to Warmane not being listed on top private server websites. A lot of new players will check sites like reddit to find out what "most people" think the "best server" is. There they will find out that "Warmane is trash and the community is full of a$$holes, and the staff are corrupted.)
Sure we have a facebook page, a youtube account, etc. But how will people see those without first seeing the server listed on a top100 site?
To me, this is the biggest problem Warmane faces.
How can we as a community face it?

Funny part is, that Dodgy kid talks crap about the server...yet he plays here. Makes sense, huh? He just wants to be cool.

Dodgy played here back when it was Wrath only, because Molten was the best Wrath server at the time (which is why every says Warmane/Molten is the best private server, they base it all on one xpac from old experience). Since then he came to Cata Warmane for a while, then went to a x1 Cata Server (no names shall be said). After that he went to a Wrath server and then a Vanilla and now is on a xpac progressive server (really cool idea btw) until Corecraft is finished...if it's ever finished.

The problem is, that most of the people that hate on Warmane watched DodgyKebaab's video about MOLTEN CATA, and MOLTEN MOP. This is WARMANE, a LOT better than Molten. Also, I've seen A LOT hate on Sapphire, and people claiming they won't join the server because of him/her.

Well everything he said in the MOP video was 100% correct but i still i play here mainly because of my friends. I have tons of respect for Dodgykebab and yes i am his fan, he gives honest reviews and does not hold stuff back... except in the last review of warmane he was a little soft than what people were used to and expected from him.

Just coming back from an extended break since a bit after the molt down.
Warmane, or Molten has several members. But in all honesty they did experience a huge decline in quality over the years. During the first few years they were ahead of other servers in terms of bug fixes and content.
But as trinity emu progressed, they started to fall behind. The only saving grace was population. Populating a fresh server is difficult, no matter how well it's scripted. The majority of casual players are not going to toss away what they invested to risk going to the new server where 100 people tops are playing.
Molten took pride in it's quality, but then as quality slipped, staff behavior did as well. Criticism was met with an instant ban under the guise of staff disrespect.
That is what has lead to many people's nasty reviews. When they point out obvious mistakes, staff didn't take the information and learn from it, they just attempted to silence the voice and bury it.
Molten staff (I can't say warmane as I haven't been active recently so can't judge if their behavior has changed) had the attitude that they could do no wrong. Their server was the best in everything no matter what. It didn't matter that the wotlk realms were basicly FoS PoS farms with lore content cut out, and ICC runs with the worst VDW encounter ever, which for a while required holy pally stacking in heroics to deal with various bugs) Don't even get me started on pets and how the movement maps system was outdated, and how mobs could magically float through the air, despite other servers having that fixed for over a year.
Now things might have changed. Given the history and how anyone who criticized mistakes was treated, even having seen saphire's old post where she said the community didnt matter, I doubt such a change has occurred to where things are improved.
Hell, I found two dupe exploits that were private knowledge, and reported them, yet never received the so called reward they were offering to people for that kind of thing. Didn't even get a thank you, and I'll tell you, hunting for exploits is not easy. It takes time and work, which I could have spent doing more fun things.
But alas I'm here simply because of friends, and it's hard to find a populated server that's blizzlike without some weird tweak

We have plenty of criticizing threads and posts all around. Incidentally, we also did in the past. There are two issues people like you (I'm assuming, but based on the quoted part I doubt I'm wrong) don't comprehend or prefer to ignore:
a) A criticism is an opinion. It's not a request or an order. It might be valid for you, it might be valid for a hundred people, but it still doesn't by essence carries any assurance that Staff will agree with your opinion. There's nothing bizarre about listening to criticism and simply disregarding it if the criticized part disagrees with the critic. Many people seem to believe that if they see an issue and voice it, every effort should be diverged towards that. Its an extremely narrow view, that ignores the big picture and factors players more often than not don't account for;
b) While it's very easy for people to blur the line, there is a threshold for how far a criticism can go before it turns into bashing. We allow criticism just fine, as plenty of threads show, and we did in the past as well. The problem is people believe "bashing while criticizing" is alright. It isn't. If your so-called criticizing involves insulting Staff, the server, our work or our goals, no matter how valid some point you're making might be, you're in the wrong by default and will receive what you had coming. If you can make your point like a civilized person, you will be fine, as all who do so are.

Warmane IS on the top100 sites, just not listed. Just go and disable your adblocker, see how you are being stalked by Warmane ;)
Anyway, no problems so far yet with dropping population. When the staff notices the current way is not working, I am 100% sure they will find a better way.
Obnoxius, you always have a ... different... way of telling people things :) sometimes I hate it, but sometimes I acutally like it! Anyway, this is actually an offtopic discussion for this thread and it won't improve the quality of it either. at all.Edited: August 6, 2015

In the name of Kaer, what a bitter irony! You dare to advertise that joke of a server led by the Unholy Trinity of Shiro, nIM and BnB?? On Warmane's forums? Are you out of your mind? I knew this thread would be derailed to an advertisement board of other servers! Just mention that Turkish kebaab-selling prick and that's what you get! Pray you won't get banned for this!
@OP Warmane's doing fine, no need to worry. As you've already mentioned, Reddit isn't exactly the place where you can get unbiased information.
