1. What is your take on Warmane?

THIS IS A QOUTE "warmane is not in the slightest like the real retail servers.

i play on molten/warmane now for over 6 years, warmane is just riddled with bugs the only time warmane feels like blizzard servers is when you stand in town doing nothing and watching global chat channel. the rest is just a big steaming pile of bugs.

it might be that the new wotlk lordaeron will be very good but after playing such a long time on here and never seeing any real change (except the moltdown incident when everything went to ****s)

in its current state warmane is not even half of what blizzard servers are or were during that time however they have a new wotlk server coming up that is getting hyped alot but ... well mop got hyped too back then and look what was presented to the community, try it out if you like it sure why not but dont start pretending like all the other people that warmane is 90% blizzlike its not never was and probably never will be."

I came across this in reddit and wanted to share it with you guys. I have come to Warmane and found it to be almost the opposite of this. I have had fun, I need the help of other players to take care of rare spawns- group quests mean you actually need groups. I'm forced to take advantage of the landscape and actually use strategy to complete level appropriate quests. I'm honestly having as much fun as I had on WoW when I first started playing back in WOTLK. (I'm playing on Deathwing btw). I just wanted your guys thoughts on this person's negative review on what I feel is a fun private server. (Also the moderators I have talked with have been both respectful and understanding). Of course, I have not had the opportunity to try much end game content on this server yet, so maybe that's where he is coming from, but somehow I doubt it could be THAT bad.

I'm sorry to break it to you but Warmane is not multi billion company like blizzard is, so dont ever, EVER again compare Blizzard and Warmane in terms of manpower, Warmane doesnt have hundreds or thousands of developers to work on the game, like blizzard did.
Warmane has gotten this far with fraction of devs that Blizzard had/has and I'd say they are doing hell of a good job!

EDIT: On top of that you can play here for free! And on retail you have to pay for the expansions + game time.

  3. have read all those complaints you speak of too...infact i enjoy reading them. It makes me dig warmane even more.
This server rocks and its only gonna get better. watch

  4. Sure Warmane has it's strong and bad points but you have to consider that they lost a lot of their actual you know... Funds and servers with the whole molt-down crap so i think their pretty well after the recovery of the whole incident... Although the only thing i'm caring about now and makes me wanna still play is Lordaeron sadly since i played all expansions but the wrath one is the most promising one so far since i grew tierd of MOP a lot due to well most people can address their reasons so i don't have to tell mine :) I just stick around cause of the community.

  5. reddit is a circlejerk of "GD" and "D" fanboys, they detest every other server, molten/warmane especially. Don't expect to find objective opinions on this subreddit...

I've played on D and it's quite "meh", nowhere near as amazing or bug free as redditors say. At the beginning it was just a playground for a certain guild from Molten, trinity core with 1 dev working on it, lol. It feels very unprofessional, especially the customer service... once I asked why my ticket was closed without any response they said "well, maybe you weren't nice enough", I mean WTF xD
They also promise things and never deliver, because you know... when their only dev is busy it all goes to **** xD

I gave up on GD once I saw their website read about the registration process, what a joke xD Like a 12 hours of /played just to see the website! No, thnx.

Warmane WotLK is buggy, yes, noone can deny that (it will change after Lordaeron launch, hopefully), but at least they have more than 1 dev, GMs who actually answer tickets, mods who don't act like they had mental issues (well, most of the time at least <3) and a funcional, well designed website and forums.
There's bug tracker, devlog, player count, so you know what's going on, IDK it still feels like the most realiable private server despite all it's issues...
And the big community is great. So if you wanna play WotLK Warmane is your best bet.

  6. To me, Warmane offers two things retail doesn't:

    1. To play old expansions featuring the "real" WoW, not the dumbed-down garrisonfest that is WoD.
    2. To get off the gearing hamster wheel. I work pretty long hours, and I like knowing that once I gear up my Warmane characters, they are done. I can take a month off if I want and when I come back I won't have fallen behind. So I can play as much or as little as I like.

Those two things are worth putting up with bugs for me. Your mileage may vary.

  7. I'll never understand why people use Reddit. It is pure garbage. It's like a giant forum thrown together in 15 minutes by people who have no idea what they're doing.

  8. The bugs on Molten have always been greatly exaggerated.

As far as PVE goes, MOST of the end-game content, and I speak mainly of RS and ICC here, is honestly very close to a Blizz-like state, and even the encounters that are less Blizz-like are still scripted such that they're very challenging in their own way (for instance LK p3 on Warmane is a good bit harder than it ever was on retail). The only 2 exceptions to that are Deathbringer Saurfang (who's basically just a patchwerk here - which makes him useful for measuring DPS), and Professor Putricide. Everything else is scripted well enough to provide a satisfying challenge, and this is evidenced by the fact that Molten has, for so long, successfully maintained the largest active WotLK private server community, a large portion of whom pug ICC/RS regularly and enjoy it.

That TOC and Ulduar right now need work goes without saying, but that's part of why Lordaeron is so hyped :D.

That's laughable. If this is very close to blizzlike then what is a bad script for you? Tankspank? Spells missing? Seriously. RS is a joke. The fact that Living Embers one-shot players forces you to run specific RDPS comps and also obligates you to overgear the encounter by a LOT compared to retail. "But it's just a detail", which makes everything different. Marrowgar has Coldflames spawning from its center and not from the max hitbox range, that by itself already changes how the encounter and positioning works. Not talking about bugged flames spawning simultaneously, one-shotting half of your raid. Lady is easier than it should. GSB takes double the time it should, and doesn't even tp you anymore if you fall or jump from the ship. DBS is a tankspank with the exception of Rune Blood. Rotface is a complete chaos, Vile Gas shouldn't be cast on melees (just like Festergut). This little detail makes you need to spread your MDPS in 3 different groups and all the RDPS around the room, making the encounter completely different as it should be. And of course if you finish the boss and there's diseases up on players you'll have to kill oozes after the encounter is over cause, why not. Slime Puddles don't even have any animation before they actually spawn on the floor. PP is tankspank. BPC is a mess right now. Kinetics/Dark Nucleos spawning in the walls, Taldaram's Empowered Fireball chasing players forever, HP reseting to full after swapping between bosses, and if you wipe you even have the chance of getting encounter-locked and not be able to go back inside ICC for an hour because "encounter is in progress". BQL's Darkfallen Pact doesn't even do damage. VDW is another joke - shorter enrage timer than it should have, awful orb respawn rate, orbs spawning inside walls and chandeliers, Beacon not working, Blazing Skeletons being able to get stuck inside walls after knockbacks and pretty much wiping the raid (cause obviously you can't run inside walls to kill mobs). I'm already tired of typing about Sindragosa and Lich King. I've contributed to the bugtracker and to the 'Top 5 Bugs' thread (made by a moderator) but it doesn't seem to have helped.

I'm not saying scripts are terrible - they are not. But you can't possibly agree that the current scripting of ICC and RS are good either. No. Just no. But the thing is, their priority was gonna be ICC and RS a few months ago, and suddenly everything is Lordaeron and Ulduar + Naxx. I guess Warmane players aren't gonna do proper ICC/RS ever, sadly.

I cant/wont argue with you ;/ But is it worth painting a rusty car before you do the bodywork??
To spend all that money on paint , just to paint it half-assed - when you know whats really needed is a total strip down restoration?

imo Warmane went the best route. Yes presently it seems rather backwards...Yes it will take longer.
    and then theres Lordaeron.
...But this realm is a gimme - its the culmination of the effort to strip down the rusty car and paint it the RIGHT way. they did/have done/are doing all this work and regardless if it comes in the form of lordaeron... OR pretend they didnt release Lord, and ported it direct to DW and RAG....
    whats the difference?

It IS a video game- but its just like any repair we come across IRL everday. Fix it for good or put a band-aid on it?
i dont say this at you Jiji im just simply sayin for the record.

  11. You're nitpicking. I never said RS and ICC couldn't use a lot of improvement. The encounters are playable, challenging, and resemble the Blizzard versions enough to keep a large player base entertained. Perhaps my definition of Blizz-like is a bit too lax, but I don't think it bears declaring an encounter unplayable because of a handful of bugs that ultimately don't majorly detract from its essence.

  12. Most of the people that complain about Warmane on reddit got banned during Molten, so they hate the server for that. We all know how easily you got permed during Molten.

Only complaints that I have is that Lolmourne is a 1% drop from LK25HC or 150 DP. I know how the quest chain got abused hard, but there should be some kind of a solution. Like collecting stuff, then mods will take the stuff off you and give you the damn sword.

This analogy doesn't fit tho. I'm talking about priorities only. Realistically people don't raid Ulduar/Naxx, and it's not because lack of scripts only. I get that these raids WILL be raided on Lordaeron as content will be progressively released and therefore they should be scripted before ICC/RS, logically. But DW/Rag players won't raid them. So why prioritize scripting/raiding on a new realm (with a new a different style of having progressive content) instead of just fixing what DW/Rag players are waiting for years? People on these servers raid ICC and RS mostly for a long time, naturally you would attempt to make both of these raids as close as possible to blizzlike before swapping your priorities to a new project, and not ignore the old realms and postpone (once again) work on these 2 raids.
I'm tired of reading promises about ICC/RS. "They will be scripted", "WoTLK will be worked on", things like that, and guess what, other projects take over the priority - Cata, MoP, Lordaeron, scripting sentinels, scripting quests... Meanwhile our Fire Mages got no 2p T10 bonus for months already.

  14. I'm tired of reading promises about ICC/RS. "They will be scripted", "WoTLK will be worked on", things like that, and guess what, other projects take over the priority - Lordaeron,
That seems rather contradictory to me. Isn't it? Lordaeron is evidence of our working on Wrath. But you complain about Lordaeron taking priority over... Wrath fixes?
scripting sentinels, scripting quests... Meanwhile our Fire Mages got no 2p T10 bonus for months already.
So, let me get this straight. You think that a missing set bonus (mind you, Cata and MoP players have to deal with this exact issue for even longer, on many many more classes and specs, and on more than just more than one set of tier sets) is more important than dealing with the hacker problem, or a much larger and more important part of the game that has been left ignored for years as opposed to your few months without that tier bonus? Am I reading this right? You're sure that's what you meant? I have to be absolutely certain, which is why I'm asking you this. I have to be certain because it makes the difference between someone considering your opinion as feedback vs. dismissing it as someone who only cares about their own priorities.

Edit: Point is, there is a method to the madness. You can complain that we're doing X instead of Y, and that's fine. Everyone has their own opinion. That said, though, we have to approach these things a certain way.
