I'm a young pandaren monk about to make the biggest choice of my life, and have no clue which faction to choose! I am a PvE player for sure, and mostly just want to do Challenge Modes whenever they eventually come out. Which faction should I go with?

Both Alliance and Horde have PvE guilds. Though it depends on your raiding times of course.

Not the most crucial, but its still one of the issues. Lack of content in PVE and in general the lack of enthusiasm in PVE on the server is a reason for this. LFR queue takes 2-3 hours to begin and 15 minutes to finish the actual raid.

1. Alliance needs more pve activity,so go alliance.
2.Nobody with somewhat decent RG would never even consider farming BGs apart from maybe a weapon or sth,if your guild is decent it will boost you.
3.LFR is for scrubs and people who can't find a proper guild,or don't have the time to commit to one,unless i am drunk i don't even consider those as options even in worst case scenarios,5mans can drive me mad at times,why would i expose my self to 9 or 24 *****s.
The issue atm is not even so much the lack of content but....anything really. Retail is able to stretch it's longevity because of the amounts of things to do inbetween your arenas,raids or battlegrounds,we don't even have legacy raids to farm Xmog gear,no pet battles,half of the achievements are either broken or unobtainable because the content associated with them is either broken as well or closed,half of the BGs are closed down so you will be stuck with mainly AB or WSG,RGs are stuck farming ToT or slacking in shrine,as for arenas....who cares,its a minigame crafted by blizzard to suck back few ex-subscribers.
