I've noticed an absense of this feature since this morning, I've always enjoyed seeing who's watching certain threads and now i cannot. Where did it go?

ye, it happens since last night. I would say it is on purpose rather than a bug; happy to be wrong

Personally I prefer for it to be gone.

If people don't know who is looking at a particular thread(s) they can't "call them out":

"I see such and such Moderator(s) viewing the thread but they aren't responding".

It's similar to how people that have donated no longer have a special forum name color, more anonymity. To me what a person posts is more important them them simply reading a thread.
