1. What kind of hardware are warmane using for their servers?

Purely out of curiosity, what's this server being ran on? I'd just be curious of the non-compromising (of course) specs like are you guys straight up rocking a rack of e5 2660 v3's, big stacks of older sandy bridges like E5-2670's, or am i completely missing the mark and you guys just have something terrifyingly powerful like E7-8890 v3's?

how much memory does each player put in use? Is memory even something that is heavily required by a WoW server? I assume it's not just running a game instance every time someone logs in of course that's something a webtiles server would do. How much Memory does the server have? 500gb? 1000gb? Maybe even 1500gb? Or am i way off again and you guys use way less because WoW doesn't demand much in that department?

Would be cool to hear, and get some insight on just what kind of coal it takes to keep the engine on these servers roaring.

  2. This is the information page from June of 2013:

    From the page:
Servers. Each realm runs on a dedicated server with Dual Octa-core E5-2690, 64 GB RAM and 1000 GB SSD.

  3. i really doubt lordaeron is running off of dual E5-2690's, as good as those chips are.. 32 threads for 10k people? okay it's probably a bit less than 10k i know warmane smudges it slightly but it's still tons, more than any other wotlk server out there by an obscene amount.

Why would they "smudge" it? :) no need for that haha.
And yeah, probably by now they use something different (and logically: more powerfull)

I agree, i doubt they smudge it, i don't think they have a reason to and I'm one to fully believe, "extraodinary claims require extraodinary evidence" (C.H. R.I.P). If Pooppickle can bring some solid evidence to the table to back that claim up, i'll listen, til then it doesn't matter as i just don't see enough of a reason to doubt Warmane. They've been upfront with us so far, why lie about this?

Anyways, I'm running WoW on my Commadore 64 on a DOS OS.

this isn't Warmane though, looking back, it's Molten. Warmane might not even dabble in this practice at all, they've shown to be better in many other ways than Molten when it comes to fixing bugs, making cash shop less relevant, etc. so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

anyway i think it's time to stop derailing before you or i get an infraction

Don't worry about me getting an infraction. Every time I get an infraction on these forums I take shot. Pretty safe to say i've been building a study drinking habit thanks to the staff here.

Anyways, read your post and link and i'm glad you corrected yourself before i had to. Take care and cheers mate.
