Need some PvP insight for this Class.

So with the opening of the Nelth shop I've decided to try sell one of my toons and grab myself a full geared Wrath DK and jump ship to Wrath. But as I was a newbie back on Wrath Retail (I started literally a week before ICC was opened) I have no idea how they play. Wrath is pretty much a new game to me. So what are DK's like in 2's/3's. What comps can they play with? I know Vangs was a thing back then but what about things like Ebolacleave, ShadowCleave or PhDK? What spec is superior? I'm going to assume it's Unholy but I could be wrong. How do we do with Runes? Do we end up drowning in runes if played right or do we have to conserve them? Also on Cata DK's are basically the healer killers and can wipe out pretty much all healers in a few moments, is that the same for Wrath or not?

I tried checking out comps on the ladders with DK's but prettu much every 3's team has 4-6 players in them so I can't work out what comp is involving a DK>.<

DKs are far from being healer-killers on WotLK. It's mostly about the pressure - set up a kill, force cooldowns, then Gargoyle the **** outta someone. Having said that, Unholy is your spec of choice, with probably the most common 2s comp being Holy/Unholy ofc. Can't say about 3s. I'd go for Shadowcleave though. That much pressure can bring cancer to anyone.

Basically you have a great survival, more than Cata. Unlike there, in wotlk IBF is still a great deff cd, and you can kill almost anyone in duels. Death Strike heals for 15% hp, which makes your survival great. The pressure is great too, as ideases tick for like 800 damage at least, but you have no burst.
You gotta set up a kill and use death coil as sorta frost strike, to burst. Garg helps a lot, but scourge strike damage sucks and you have no necro. Pretty much this.
For 2s you should get a resto druid or hpal, but hpal games take too long imo. For 3s, well theyre dead, but you can go PHD, TSG, Shadowcleave... In 2s you can go shadow pr/dk, dk/resto sham, dk/resto druid, or maybe some kind of melee.
Also gear wise dks dont benefit from pve gear a lot, so get full wrathful with cloak/neck/ring pve cause wrath ones give attack power instead, but if you want you can go all wrath, youll still be fine. Bryntroll is a nice weapon, but the drain isnt working i think, so get ether lk 25hc sword or Wrath 2200 rating one, which in turn will get you a lot of resi, and you need about 1200. Btw, get icc rep farm ring and a pve trinket!

I use these talents, overall they give you what you need + 2 pts in your choice. They can go On a Pale Horse, which isnt bad, but Imp UH pres gives you faster rune recharge, making unholy stronger presence. You ca go chill of the grave too, for more CoI runic power. I go with IUP tho.
You can also remove a point from Impurity or Outbreak for Corpse explosion, which when you use it to blow your pet you deal insta 7k dmg (quite a lot), but there is a bug causing resi to reduce the damage... Really its your choice, not a must have or something.
Reaping is a must, it gives you great runic flexability, allowing you to spam 4xChains, use AMZ or Bone Shield and make 3xDS/SS in a row! Get glyph of disease for the synergy, use Ghoul and Dark Death.
Sigil should be vengeful heart for the increased dc damage.
    Thats it for now.

    For 2s: F/UH DK+Hpaly or UH DK+Spriest.
For 3s: TSG (Awarr+UH DK+Hpaly or prot warr+FDK+Hpaly) or ShadowCleave

What spec is superior? I'm going to assume it's Unholy but I could be wrong.
Unholy is the best spec for duels.
Frost is the best spec for 2s arena (FDK+Hpaly).
In 3s UH DK is more common but FDK is also viable.

Shadow priest is better than hpala, with hpala matches take too long, and hpala/warr will always counter and be stronger than hpala/unholydk
Even disc priest/unholy dk is better than hpala+dk.

Thats why u play dk+Hpala with Frost spec and not Unholy.

No,frost has been "nerfed" which means fixed the threat of thassarian or how is called,disc/unholy will kill that easy ambolishing diseases or instant cure them, and spriest/unholy gonna pwn hard that comp.

So frost/hpala was a thing... before the new core and on blackrock(which you dps your target for 10 seconds hungering cold op)

And how often will u face disc/unholy dk in arena?
The main reason to roll FDK+Hpaly is because u can beat Warr+Hpaly with it and ull frequently encounter this comp on higher rating.

Frost dk is also strong with out these things.
The frost strike double dipping bug and 3.3.5b class changes just made it even stronger.

First reply back, don't think I ignored this post. Been reading everything carefully and weighing out my options, everyone has given great advice.

Still not 100% sure on the actual class, just DK seems to be ahead at the minute. Basically I mained a Hpala on Nelth and I main it on retail, but I'm not actually sure if I want to be a healer for Icecrown too. My mate is thinking of getting hold of a Ret so I need to be viable with that (moreso in 2's for the moment, until we meet new people).

And it doesn't have to be the most op class and it can be anything. Range, Caster, Healer(maybe) or Melee I'm a great Multiclasser.

roll resto shaman/or disc priest, if u wanna be any good with ret.

Honestly, best thing you could do is make a DK on Blackrock and set up everything there, duel people, try arena etc.

It's different than say DW dk's (because of gear difference and certain bugs), but it'll give you basically a feel of a class.
