WotLK Character creation disabled today ?

Hi, I have a whole day in front of me and wanted to create and level a DK.
However when I try to create a character on Deathwing I am told that character creation is disabled, and that I must wait until a later date or choose another realm. I suppose it has to do with the upcoming merge ?
When will I be able to create a character ?

Yes, they disabled char creation in order not ppl steal names...anyway they will enable it again after all the chars are transferred to icecrown...estimation 1 week or so?
