Hi there. I have noticed that in every client I've tried outside of Vanilla, I have a problem with the sound -- everything works fine, except for a consistent crackling and/or popping, varying in intensity based on how intense the sound effects are. The only solution I've found online is to run Wow.exe in Windows 7 compatibility mode, which... has not worked for me. I am on Windows 10 and afaik all of my drivers are up to date.
I don't really think it's a client problem since you faced the same issue in several clients. It's probably your configuration or hardware issue.
Try to disable all the enhancements from your Speakers properties to see if it changes anything.
I don't use sound enhancements, but the suggestion made me think of the fact that I have my sample rate set to 192k hz usually... tested it out, and Wrath can go from 44 to 96 hz without crackling. Set it back to 192, the crackling returns.

Mystery solved. Thanks!
