i'm thinking about making a pvp paladin, the main question that i want to ask is, how good are they in dealing with healers in terms of 1v1, with equally geared enemys, speicfied on disc priest?
What about world pvp, bgs, or comps with 2s? Are they viable? And for the last part, the pve? How good can they get?
Ret paly cant kill any decent geared healer in 1v1 because of the lack of interrupts.
When it comes to wpvp and bgs ret is in terms of dmg one of the best melee class.
In 2s the best partner is a mm hunter.
In pve ret is the best hybrid class in terms of dmg and has very useful raid buffs.
It should be impossible to kill a healer, but if u wanna beat less-skilled healers best way to go is using Seal of corruption/vengeance and a dps libram. The seal stacks will prevent judgement effects from being dispelled and additional dmge over time. When fighting disc priest try to destroy their bubble before using judgment at least most of the times (its freaking hard to manage it) this ensure mana back from judgments. If u can get them to trinket a stun w/o popping wings then its great . For the next time your trinket procs you can use wings and stun to burst them down and repentance to interrupt cast if possible. Try to save medallion for your burst because you don't wanna sit in a CC with wings up.
Rets simply cannot deal with healers in any way other than praying to the RNG gods for a HoJ kill. No interrupts, no healing reduction, no slows = no kill. This is also the reason why Belf is the best choice for PvP Ret. Dat racial, bro...
They shine in wPvP and BGs because they are very straightforward & bursty and do not have any amp up like Afflocks or SPs for example - you just see an enemy player and go pew pew.
Another good partner for 2s is rogue, although the double-melee puts you in a great disadvantage vs spell cleaves. DON'T try Ret + healer - Ret's inability to deal with enemy healers would mean you will lose miserably vs any other DPS + healer comp.
As for PvE, you cannot expect to top the meters definitely, but you can come close to that and provide auras, blessings, and hands at the same time which is a very nice compensation. Every 25-man raid should have at least 1 Ret because of the plethora of utility it can provide (auras, blessings, hands, Replenishment, 3% dmg, 3% haste, 3% crit - all by just one player).

Ret CAN do 2's with a healer with offensive play. It's more difficult to land kills sometimes. At other times, it's actually easier, depending on what you're up against. Disc and Resto Sham are the only good healers for a Ret though.

Holy Wrath, Vindication, Improved Blessing of Might, Aura Mastery and Divine Sacrifice are also utilities that could be used by a Ret.
But yes, the point being that Ret Paladins are the strongest support role and raid buff in the game.
