WotLK Mages and the Arena

Hey guys,
recently i've been stalking the armory a bit to see how things are going after the merge, and i was really surprised that there are almost no mages past 1800 rating. I know it's too early into the "season" and stuff, but that shouldnt be a legit reason why one of the "better" classes for PvP is underperforming.
I am wondering if thats due bugs or something... I'd like to hear your opinions. Is this happening due to the absence of decent mages or the problem is somewhere else?

overtuned classes. It seems every class that use strength and agility got a damage boost after core. I'm already leveling a rogue, can't wait to 1shot my way into the ladder.
