So before I start off I'd like to say that I like Lordaeron and understand the hard-mode concept, since people will say 'if you don't like it, don't play it'.
However I just think that there is something that might be improved for the same of the server's long-term health.
So here's the deal, the server has a 1x xprate, which means it takes the average playing 8-10 days to get to level 80. Now I believe that it's great that the xprate is the same as it was on retail (altho it isn't blizzlike, I'll go into that later on), but the longer the server exists, the more it will put people off of playing on it.
The majority of players coming to Lordaeron are players who played wotlk, and liked it more than retail how it currently is, mainly for the northrend & endgame experience. However someone who creates an account today, most likely won't be able to experience that for another 2 months.
The problem with that is that as soon as the 'progressive' element of the server ends (the release of the final raids), there's a lot less incentive to play on this realm as opposed to servers with raf/higher xp rates, where people will be able to dive straight into the endgame. This WILL result in a significant decrease in players over time (mainly since there won't be many new players joining).
So how can we solve this problem? Very simple:
The option for a level 70 boost.
Now when players hear 'level boost' they tend to instantly get offended and say 'go play retail', but hear me out here.
When wotlk was released, most people already had a level 70 character since they had leveled it up during tbc, meaning most players could jump into the wotlk content right away. However, if they wanted to level up alts, they still had to do it the way new players had to.
Since most players joining this server have already played wow before and probably leveled up 1-70 countless times, you can really lure them in by giving them 1 boost to 70, so that they get the best experience from the game. Let's be honest, if someone cares most about the level 1-60 experience, they'll probably play on a vanilla server, people are here for wotlk content.
I really don't see any downsides to giving everyone the option to get 1 level 70 boost (you could charge a small donation, like 10dp for it).
It also wouldn't affect players new to wow, since they'll want to just level 1-80 as they have never seen the content before, they wouldn't pay for a level 70 boost.
Just putting it out there and curious to see what others think about this.
Or people are playing Wotlk for changes that were made to classes and gameplay by said expansion, rather than just for the end game content.
I was a player of live from the start until Cataclysm and i personally find the way wotlk runs is better than the other expansions or Vanilla, even though i loved Vanilla and just came from Nostalrius. And enjoy the leveling process. I tried the 7x xp but just found it wrong as leveling a character is what helps teach you that character and meet other people.
And to add to the post above such option will make leveling zones probably empty, so unless population drops to 1000 players at peak time i see no need for such option
This is a custom feature that has nothing to do with the authentic experience,so keep such ideas away from our realm,no instant 80,70,no transmog, experience the game as it was meant to be. Case solved.
