1. WoW constantly crashing (probably) because of WoD models

First of all, I'm sorry if there's a similar solved thread already but I haven't been able to find it.

I play on Loarderon, so 3.3.5.a.

I have this very annoying problem, my client constantly crashes and it seems to happen when it has to load one of the WoD models (even though I myself don't have them and play with the old, "classic" client).

90% of the time the crash is caused by "blood elf female skin" or "blood elf male skin". Rarely, the error log says something about not having enough memory (although I have 4GB RAM and never had problems playing WoW - this only happens on Warmane).

At first, when this happened, I narrowed the problem down to the patch.MPQ file in /data. Basically, everything that has to do with skins is in this file - at least that's what I think. So, my "brilliant" idea was to copy the original patch.MPQ file from the original download and replace the "corrupted" one. This seemed to fix the problem, for a totally random amount of time - sometiems it was days, other times it was minutes.

However, then I realized something. It never really fixed the problem, but since copying the file usually took up to 5 minutes, this meant that the player using the "corrupted" model probably went away, and since I play alliance, I usually don't see too many blood elves, right?

So here I am, crashing every f*king time I come even close to a blood elf. Even when just flying above them etc.

Please, help me. It's really unplayable - even though sometimes I can squeeze out HOURS of gameplay without any issues, other times I crash every 3 minutes or am even unable to log in since I crash instantly after loading...

EDIT: Sorry for the wrong category and thanks for moving the thread into the right one.

EDIT2: Oh, I think I have not made it clear that I do NOT HAVE WoD models. :D Oooops...

I have just the original 3.3.5a WOTLK client without anything extra..

  2. there are 2 solution:
    1. Remove WoD models and you will not crash anymore, here is a guide to remove them (it will take 30 seconds): http://forum.warmane.com/showthread....the-old-client

    2. if you wanna keep WoD models then you can use this software http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/th...-aware.112556/
it will allow wow.exe to use more RAM, you will not crash anymore.

    I recommend first solution

  3. Your best bet is to either download or torrent the Original wow without the WoD models. Although the models are up-to-date, it's not worth crashing every 2 minutes in dalaran. You are not the only one mate.

  4. I assume you're using a client that is not a client provided by Warmane. I would give this suggestion since some clients are heavily modified;

Download the "Old Client" for WOTLK provided by Warmane and check if this situation still happens. Not only the MPQ Files but all of the client itself in order to check what's making this happen. I want to believe that some value from the other MPQ files that you have in your client might be causing this issue.

I'll give it a try, although I downloaded what was supposed to be the "original" client. But yes, I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks, I'll let you know if it has worked.

Number 2 worked for me about a few months back and have been looking for it since but now it says,
