I wanna start playing WoW again and my obvious choice for a server was Lordaeron since I have some chars there.
But I see there's a new Wotlk server called Icecrown.
Can someone tell me what is this server about or where do I find information about it since I missed its launch? Is it like Lordaeron 1x rates for everything? Is it Blizzlike? What raids are opened on it compared to Lordaeron? What are the differences between it and Lordaeron?
x7 rates on xp and x5 on gold, as far as i know every raid is open, the main difference is that there is a higher percentage of pvpers on icecrown, and you'll get ganked more while leveling. However i barely played on lord so wait for someone who played for a long time on both to respond.
Icecrown
-Higher population.
-x7exp x5gold x5profession gain... I believe x5 or x7 rep?
-RDF
-Heirlooms
-3.3.5
-Normal bosses.
-Can donate ~$20 for a heroic, BiS piece of gear.
-Perma skip queue after donating once. (Server is filled early on in the day in EST time)
Lorda
-Lower population
-x1 all rates
-RDF disabled
-Heirlooms disabled.
-3.1
-Buffed dungeons/raid bosses.
-Takes like 40bucks for a piece of gear.
-Can skip queue for a month I believe it is after donating and spending your coins. (Server isn't full anymore so not needed.
Thank you, Orendil. That info is super helpful! Logged into Nelth after about a year away to an empty server. ._. Then was curious about the crazy numbers on Icecrown but couldn't find any info about anywhere. D; Thank you again.
