transfering a character between accounts?

So I had a Molten WoW account which was called Account #1. When Warmane came I tried to login in to my old Account #1 acc but it didn't work so I renamed the account to Account #2. But I still hold my points and some coints. from the old account

I tried to transfer a character from the old Molten Account #1 to my new Account #3 (the renamed Account #2 is played by a friend). I somehow transfered a character from old molten server "Deadwing" to Account #2 (characters from Account #1 should not exist?) successfully.

I have read that transfering characters from account to account is no longer possible, so can someone explain how the above scenario happened?
Also, if it is still possible to transfer characters, how can I transfer between accounts?
I just want to take my character to my new account !

Deathwing and Ragnaros merged and all chars were transferred to Icecrown. If you had more than 10 chars after the merge you could transfer the remaining chars to another account. That's the only way you could transfer chars to another account. There is no other way to do that again.
