You
So I'm looking in to getting a laptop, mostly I'd use it for college and occasional wow.
I'm completely derp at technology so what can people suggest if my price limit is £250?
Thank you 😅

Hi :D
I live is USA and have Dell inspiron 17 7000 series that I love, but you can choose what brand you prefer in your price range. What matters is what's inside and their customer service.
(Shop around) Since your short on funds, try to get at least a Pentium processor, (not Celeron)
I definitely would get a lap top with nvidia geforce adapter if possible. A 3D card makes all the difference and at least 8gb ram or 16gb if Possible. For disc space, try to get 500gb is a good starting point. If you have any questions feel free to send me a pm.
Good choice for low end for occasional wow, If you "Raid" it will be slow.
Good Luck with your search

He's right, I don't know how, but I didn't read the wow part lel
Anyway, don't buy what I said then... For like office and related--things it's alright, but for wow... Well completely disregard that really :D
Check on some sites for used laptops... I'm pretty sure you can find one with cool specs... I remember someone saying that they found (and bought) a pretty good laptop (i5 4200U, 8GB ram, 1TB HDD and an 840M) for just 250€ in my country... In yours, which will obviously have a better life-quality than mine, you'll be able to find something sweet!
If you find something that peeks your interest, post the specs here and we'll tell you if it's worth it or not really :D
No such thing for such a price, unless second hand.
Spoiler:Show
If you have a price comparison website for your country/city, drop a link.
Thanks for all the replies!
I've narrowed it down to 3 choices so far
A) HP 15-ba015na 15.6 AMD A8 8GB 2TB, Windows 10, Black
B)HP 14 14-an010na AMD A6-7310 Quadcore 8GB RAM 1TB HDD with DVDRW Silver Laptop
C)HP 17-y002na 17.3″ Notebook - A Series 2 GHz - 8 GB RAM - 1 TB HDD - Silver
(they arent brand new, the're refurbished)
Try to get something with dedicated GPU (they are a little better than integrated ones) and not integrated battery (on other words removable).
Look for Intel CPUs... Intel's are alot better... Pentium or i3, if you can't... Well idk, I'd suggest to wait lol
Intel Pentium N3700, 8 GB RAM, 1Tb HDD, DVDRW, WLAN, BT, Camera, Integrated Graphics, Windows 10 Home) - Black
Shall I get that and then buy a graphics card separately?
You cant just buy graphics cards for a Laptop... they either come with dedicated graphics or dont.
My suggestion, second hand or refurbished Acer Aspire 5750G.... i5 2nd gen 8GB RAM and a Nvidia 610M. I used to play wow on it for 2 years fine, plays wrath like a dream, Cata is a good 100 FPS.. Dont expect to run MOP on ultra, I was doing rated BGs back on molten at 60 FPS on low with a few addons running.
Important thing here is price...
A Pentium ain't that bad for what you're gonna do, its GPU COULD be bad for WoW... I'm not sure... Problably you can run it... I'm not sure actually, doubt it though, if it was League, I'd be pretty sure, but since it's wow, I'd seriously recommend you to find something else..
DON'T FORGET to mention the price...
I have an Acer Aspire 5740 - i3 330M, 4GB ram, 600GB HDD, ATI 5650M HD and the only wow expansion I haven't been able to play properly is Legion... It stutters alot...
Please mate, NEVER forget, but I do mean NEVER forget to change thermal paste and clean it every year or so...Depending on the model, you DON'T want overheating problems... And yes, it's pretty easy to do, so check a couple of tutorials on youtube and do it yourself, it saves you some bucks
Well Hugo the laptop you said is basically the one below mine.
Acer Aspires are good laptops and at a fairly good price if you get a refurbished/second hand one.
Thunderbolt would like a word.
though to be fair a laptop with a cpu like that probably wouldn't have it.

Laptops with exchangeable GPUs are super rare, and way out of the price range.
Are there no options with R5 330/430, GT 920M?
Well, as I said before, drop us a link where you are looking at those.
