Hi, I haven't played TBC since retail and thought I'd ask before considering it a bug.
I do understand that fishing is a pretty minor thing when launching a new server and this is the first Warmane server I'm playing on, so maybe some things, like for example professions have been slightly adjusted, since aiming for complete blizzlike isn't perfect and retail wasn't perfect either.
So my questions are:
(I've only tried fishing within Azeroth so far)
1. Should I be able to fish in every Azeroth zone at skill level 1?
2. Should the fishing drops be the same in every Azeroth zone? (Excluding schools)
3. Should I be able to catch a fish every time? As in shouldn't I get lots of non fish garbage when my fishing level doesn't meet the zone requirements?
Some other things I'd like to note out is that fishing is extremely fast, sometimes it takes less than a second to catch a fish.
As a hunter, I enjoy fishing as a relaxing side activity that will also feed my pet. The current fishing in this server isn't very relaxing, it's fast and you need to be rather active, since it takes about 1-10 seconds to catch a fish. I don't think the channeling timer has ever gotten to even half way, which is very far off anywhere near blizzlike.
Also about pets, loyalty seems to level up at a decent speed, but if I remember correctly, pets got hungry faster at lower loyalty levels, which doesn't seem to be accurate in this server if I am correct. Currently at maximum happiness, loyalty level 1, it seems it takes over half an hour before the happiness level drops. I wonder if the happiness could or will be adjusted to require food more often at lower loyalty levels or not.
I understand that this might be more convenient for players that only and fully focus on end game PvE/PvP, but the reason I've been looking for a progressive TBC servers is to enjoy playing again my very first character, struggling with all the extra costs hunter has and developing a bond with my pet.
Fishing food for my pet, feeding it, keeping it alive and happy. It's an experience other classes can't have and it was very unique and special at the time. I am very much looking forward to enjoying it again once the PTR ends and the server gets an official release.
Other than that, I'm pleasantly surprised with how well the server is running.
i havent fished in a long time, probably retail tbc but i this is how i remember it.
1. you need to skill up to fish higher level zones
2. higher level zones have higher level fish
3. sometimes when you get a bite, nothing will be there. this is normal
So it really is bugged in that case?
Cause...
1. At around fishing level 80 or so, I started looking into fishing in other zones and to my surprise I found out I was able to fish in any level zone within Azeroth, even Winterspring and Eastern Plaguelands.
2. From all the zones where I fished, except schools, I was only able to catch [Raw Brilliant Smallfish] and [Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper], the very first fish anyone is able to catch.
3. Every time I got a bite, I caught a fish with a 100% success rate, I didn't catch any trash at all.
The reason I made this post was to clarify how fishing should work, since when I asked a GM that was online when I started questioning how fishing should function, the answer I got was: "Fishing works good."
