Ret paladin PVE,PVP

I have a paladin that i want to be protection and retribution. Is there any Ret spec in which i can do both pve and pvp or will i have to eventually decide one of them?

1. prot is only pve spec.
2. ret pvp and pvp is absolutely different builds, and u will be 100% gimp in pvp build in pve or in pve build in pvp.
