Best first mount

What do you guys think is the best starter mount? I'm a horde tauren... and well the kodo's aren't really my thing.

You need to farm reputation from the other factions if you want to buy their mounts, so if your leveling you don't have much of a choise.
Personally the Troll raptors are my favorite, but it all depends, a Tauren on a raptor might look a little out of place.
Buy a Mammoth at the mount vendor in dalaran, Sons of hodir or from stone keeper shards, You mount scales to the size of your race so Taurens make mammoth's look huge.

Due to compensating, gnomes' mounts are bit bigger than others'..

Back on topic. Getting other race's mounts requires you to be exalted with them, so you're pretty much stuck with Kodos. Reputation grinding for other factions' mounts at those levels will take time and effort.
